This sale has been a joy supporting this charming couple's move to the next phase of their lives. They have been so patient with me while I return to the business I love after my husband's death last year. The homeowner told me the story that her mother took her down to a very prominent antique store in Houston to choose her bed. She picked this bed and has had it since. You will note that it has holes in the rails for the rope, which made a net for the mattress. In a way, this rope webbing was the first box spring. Starting my first home in the 1980s, when American Furniture became popular, I searched the country with my mother-in-law for rope beds in this condition. Never have I seen one so well preserved.
