READ ARTIST SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW “Painting is easy when you don’t know how, but very difficult when you do.” ~ Edgar Degas Growing up north of Dallas, my family would regularly vacation in the Tetons and Jackson Hole WY. This became a central subject of my early artwork. After moving to the Idaho side of the Tetons, I started my family, which allowed me to live in this beautiful part of the country surrounded by some of the most photographed/painted landscapes. Ever since I can remember, artwork has played a huge role in filling my free time. Painting allows me to explore new perspectives, capture a time that I’d like to revisit, or express inner emotions. For many years, life and a young family drew me away from my passion. However, after getting through some difficult personal time, I rekindled that love for art as a means of personal satisfaction and the joy it brings to others. The past few years have been incredible, with more than 300 pieces heading to new homes all over the country and multiple countries around the world. Aside from the countless hours making art, all of the unique commissions I receive allow me to explore other mediums, stretch my skills, and challenge me with new subjects. My kiddos and I are eternally grateful for all of the support we’ve found along this journey!

One of the most influential artists of the 20th century, he is known for co-founding the Cubist movement, the invention of constructed sculpture,[8][9] the co-invention of collage, and for the wide variety of styles that he helped develop and explore. Pablo Picasso stood out for his ability to express his emotions through painting and, in particular, the horror of war had a profound influence on his art. This is demonstrated in two of his works: Guernica (1937), an expression of his anguish during the Spanish Civil War, and Woman in Gray (1942), a piece that deals with the German occupation of Paris in World War II. Since Paris was occupied by the Germans, Picasso could not make works openly critical of the war. For that reason, he tried to camouflage his feelings and reflections on the impact of such an event on humanity, without actually painting it. A palette of somber colors and a distorted visual representation are techniques that the Malaga-born artist used to capture his feelings in Woman in Gray (1942). Through cubism, the artist breaks with the conventional representation of the human figure and uses geometric shapes and multiple perspectives.

He is an accomplished landscape painter, portrait artist, super-realist and graphic artist. But his energy and ideas keep him constantly active and evolving as a painter. Well-known and successful at an early age, Nobu now has his work in the personal collections of President George W. Bush, Laker owner Jerry Buss and Hall-of-famers Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Jerry West, Jamaal Wilkes and the late Chick Hearn. He has been commissioned by Mao Daichi, Japan?fs leading musical star; and by NBC and the FOX Network which have used his artwork in set-designs for "Ally McBeal"and "3rd Rock From The Sun". Nobu has been honored with Exhibitions in New York, Sausalito, Beverly Hills, Hiroshima, Yamanashi and Fukuoka, Japan. Growing up in Kokura, Japan Nobu credits his parents as early influences on his artistic future. His Mother handmade many of the things they used and decorated with in the family home. Her boundless creativity was not lost on the young Nobu, who often had to be scolded for drawing on any and all available surfaces. He absorbed Japanese and Western culture like a sponge, especially books on Monet, Da Vinci and Michelangelo. He visited museums and trained in traditional Japanese arts, but it was in his father's grocery store that Nobu found his calling. Brightly colored and graphically enticing images bombarded him as he helped open packages of dry goods from America and arrange them on shelves to be sold. Their pure marketing effects were powerful and mesmerizing to the young Nobu, who began to see the advertisements as art. He studied them, drew them and incorporated their ideas into his own emerging style. In school he eagerly studied both classical and modern art, and set out to master them both. Art & the History of Art were very important growing up in post-war Japan. After graduating from University, with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Nobu immigrated to the United States in 1986. He arrived in Venice, California, a well-known artist's community full of diverse people and ideas. He began by selling his paintings on the Venice Boardwalk, which led to numerous commissions for original portraits, landscapes and abstract paintings. Recognized for his creativity, Nobu soon moved up to art shows and galleries. By the early 1990's he had learned the practical art of silk-screening and was successfully reproducing and selling his artwork as serigraphs and mono-prints. Nobu learned to silk-screen his work onto paper, glass, aluminum, and canvas. He developed a style reminiscent of the historical Japanese Ukiyoe wood-block prints that combine images with poetry and verse; and he produced and sold silk-screen prints of clocks, telephones, wine bottles and Martini's - - with their history or recipes hand-written across them in a decorative narrative style. By 1991 he was in charge of the state-of-the-art Atelier at Marco Fine Arts, working on prints for Robert Indiana, Donald Sultan, John Asaro, John Nieto, Aldo Luongo and other accomplished artists the company was publishing. Alongside his professional achievements as printmaker, Nobu continued his private work, developing a distinct and personalized style of his own. Painting in both acrylic and oil paints as well as developing his skills as a sculptor and photographer - Nobu applied his new knowledge and techniques to producing his own cutting-edge modernist images that explore the boundaries between commercial and fine arts. These images are still a part of his oeuvre, but Nobu today is stretching the envelope again with his super-realist images of giant Martini's and shakers, scotch bottles and glasses brimming with color and reflectivity. His crystal cut-glass images dazzle us with their realism and depth of field. His compositions are balanced and yet fluid. Dynamic perspectives are used to capture our attention and imagination. The colors somehow manage to remind us of both of Nobu's early influences: Renaissance and Pop Art. Dark brooding backgrounds, enlivened by and engulfed in bold modern color spring from the canvas, entertaining us, fascinating us, while they urge us to join in the moment of celebration.

Frame: 21.75H x 21.75W x 3D Art: 20.5 x 20.5 Born in London, Ben Eine is one of the most successful letterform artists in the world and is regarded as a pioneer in the exploration of contemporary typography art. Originally a graffiti writer, Eine started his career over 30 years ago, leaving his first tag all over London before developing his distinct typographic style. Eine began painting huge, bright and colourful letters on shutters all over East London, creating beautiful forms executed with a relentless “graffiti mentality” – painting over sixty shutters in a couple of months. These imposing and engaging, yet unattributed, anonymously-painted letters stood out from the usual tags and dubs seen on the streets. They caught the public’s attention and were seminal in the rise of street art’s popularity. Eine’s partnership with the, then emerging, London graffiti artist Banksy was hugely influential to the commercial success of both artists. In 2003 The pair set up the famous Pictures on Walls gallery, with a loose collective of other artists, in order to print and sell street art. POW was established in the spirit of Punk’s DIY movement because, as Eine recalls; “There wasn’t one gallery in London or the world that would touch what we were doing”. Fashion has always been a love of Eine’s. He enjoys an on-going collaboration with Louis Vuitton as well as his own clothing brand, Eine London, which was launched with great success at London Fashion Week 2018. Eine’s international acclaim was further heightened when the UK Prime Minister David Cameron gifted his ‘Twenty First Century City’ artwork to President Obama in 2010. His work is now held in the permanent collections of the V&A Museum London, The Museum of Modern Art Los Angeles, San Francisco’s Museum of Contemporary Art, Berlin’s Urban Nation Street Art Museum, Los Angeles ‘Beyond The Streets’ and The Dean Collection as well as the private collection of Louis Vuitton and numerous other commercial institutions. Eine’s painted shop shutters and murals can still be found all over the world. His distinctive letters continue to spell words and phrases across walls from London to LA, Florence to Tokyo. He continues to use street art to engage and surprise the public. In 2018 Eine unveiled the largest street art work in the world; the ‘CREATE’ mural – a 17500 square foot artwork painted on industrial ground in East London that is visible from space.

For many years he collaborated with the Directorate of Museums of France, working with The Louvre, the Museum of Fashion and Textiles, the Picasso Museum, and numerous others. Artist Hebe Brooks is no exception to this rule. She seeks artistic knowledge at every opportunity, and she challenges herself to go further in pursuit of inspiration and development of technique. “My love for art has been present since my childhood when I spent endless hours drawing with ink or painting.” Hebe who grew up in the windy and cold land of Patagonia, began traveling at an early age. As a student in Pennsylvania, painting was her favorite class. In college, she enjoyed art history and world culture classes. Upon graduation, she traveled extensively and worked in different parts of the world visiting art museums and archaeological sites from Europe to the Far East and all through the Americas. Learning other languages allowed her to imbue in the cultures where she lived and to share ideas and traditions that would have gone unnoticed without direct communication. A second college degree in Fine Arts-Studio Painting and Art History from the University of Houston with the banner carrier distinction for the School of Art led to the consolidation of her devotion to art. Today Hebe’s work has several signature elements. One of these is her use of reflections, whether they are gracing a gleaming silver teapot in a still-life painting or a crystal-clear lake in a landscape. Hebe says her mission in depicting reflections is to engage viewers and cause them to question where the real object starts, where it ends, and what part of it is actually a reflection of something else. Another common element is her use of fabric twisting and turning its way through the artwork. Whether reflections or fabric, it is the passion for detail and perfection that sets her work apart. It is also this passion that has led to several awards and acceptances into esteemed juried exhibitions. Within the last years, her paintings have received numerous awards. She seeks artistic knowledge at every opportunity, and she challenges herself to go further in pursuit of inspiration and development of technique. “My love for art has been present since my childhood when I spent endless hours drawing with ink or painting.” Hebe who grew up in the windy and cold land of Patagonia, began traveling at an early age. As a student in Pennsylvania, painting was her favorite class. In college, she enjoyed art history and world culture classes. Artist Hebe Brooks is no exception to this rule. She seeks artistic knowledge at every opportunity, and she challenges herself to go further in pursuit of inspiration and development of technique. “My love for art has been present since my childhood when I spent endless hours drawing with ink or painting.” Hebe who grew up in the windy and cold land of Patagonia, began traveling at an early age. As a student in Pennsylvania, painting was her favorite class. In college, she enjoyed art history and world culture classes. Upon graduation, she traveled extensively and worked in different parts of the world visiting art museums and archaeological sites from Europe to the Far East and all through the Americas. Learning other languages allowed her to imbue in the cultures where she lived and to share ideas and traditions that would have gone unnoticed without direct communication. A second college degree in Fine Arts-Studio Painting and Art History from the University of Houston with the banner carrier distinction for the School of Art led to the consolidation of her devotion to art. Today Hebe’s work has several signature elements. One of these is her use of reflections, whether they are gracing a gleaming silver teapot in a still-life painting or a crystal-clear lake in a landscape. Hebe says her mission in depicting reflections is to engage viewers and cause them to question where the real object starts, where it ends, and what part of it is actually a reflection of something else. Another common element is her use of fabric twisting and turning its way through the artwork. Whether reflections or fabric, it is the passion for detail and perfection that sets her work apart.
