Bremen, April 15, 1939.

RMS Carmania in service for Cunard line 1905-1932, as an armed merchant cruiser she sank the German ship Cap Trafalgar a newer ship intended to be a merchant raider. After enduring fire from the Cap Trafalgar which destroyed the bridge on Carmania, the crew of the Carmania returned fire toward the waterline of the Cap Trafalgar eventually sinking it on September 14, 1914, World War I was then Gonly a month old.
SS Amerika, Hamburg-American line ship, 1906, stamps, postmark, and information about ship on back.
RMS Saxonia & Ivernia, one card photo could be of either ship and is so stated. Dated May 1915, no stamp as person who sent the card was on active service and mail for service personnel was sent free.
SS Vaderland, front is color lithograph, dated 12 October 1905, back is blank but undivided, says "Private Mailing Card" authorized by act of Congress May 19, 1898

SS George Washington, despite the name it's a North German Lloyd ship, penny post card stamp, postmarked Sept. 17, 1914, 4 p.m.
RMS Oceanic, card back is undivided, states authorized by Act of Congress May 19, 1898, card dated May 5, 1904.
