.45-70 cal., carbine, s/n 114292, brl length 22", lever action, very good condition, Manufactured 1898 carbine has engraving on left side of stock which reads "RCS" to the left of the "Texas Ranger Star". It is believed by the family that this rifle belonged to Ronald C. Stewart a former Texas Ranger and was part of his personal collection. Having adjustable folding rear sight with fixed front, left side mounted saddle ring and steel carbine butt plate. The receiver has brown patina throughout showing few light handling marks and a couple areas of pinpoint pitting. Bore shines with visible 2 line barrel address and caliber marking. There is very little wear visible on barrel with few areas of extremely light pinpoint pitting just above "Winchester" at roll mark and around front sight. Smooth walnut straight grip and forend show some light indentations and surface scratches. Nice example of an 1886 SRC.
