CATALOG COMPLETE This Is a Wonderful outstanding N-SCALE Collector Train Auction that was amassed over twenty years. Many items have never been opened or used. Here is the clients story behind this amazing collection. When I was a kid, back in Germany, where I am from, my brother and I had a Märklin HO train set on a preformed layout with a few tracks, 3 (!) engines, a few pieces of rolling stock, and a few buildings. One of the engines was a “Santa Fe” EMD F7 – although my favorite locomotives have always been steam engines - as one might guess from the number of steam engines in this auction, including structures, turntables, and the like for steam era. Because of space restrictions, in the 1980ies I switched to Minitrix N-scale. I built a small layout, mounted on a flat piece of plywood, covered with a green grass mat, where I scraped off the grass for the track outline and places for buildings. So, some of the engines and rolling stock are from this time. That outline survived until a few years ago, when I finally gutted it: I wanted to go bigger! I started buying KATO Unitrack – which reminded me of the old Märklin track, and really is a great track system. Since my move to the US in 2007, I began buying US and German railway rolling stock – old fashioned as I am, in DC mostly. It may sound a bit strange, but my idea for a layout was a “border crossing” situation with a train station on either side of the border and treatment facilities and buildings – on the “German side”, there would be a castle, city walls, a monastery; on the “American side” mostly the technical features, turntables, roundhouse, and a lot of SPACE… One might wonder about the various military related items: I was planning on creating some sort of military training grounds, with train connection… Alas, as much as I enjoyed collecting, I found that I simply neither have the time nor space enough for this dream of mine. Before the engines remain in their box unused for years, I’ve decided, with a heavy heart, to part with the whole lot… Most of the rolling stock actually has never been taken out of their packing… I hope that many will enjoy this auction and find a few things for their collections!
