State Laws Regarding Slot Machines
Please be advised that the sale, ownership, and operation of slot machines are governed by state-specific laws and regulations, and these laws can vary significantly from state to state. As such, it is the buyer’s responsibility to be fully aware of and comply with the gambling and gaming regulations in their state before bidding on this lot.
We want to clarify that we will not be selling or shipping slot machines to states with laws that govern or restrict the sale, ownership, or use of slot machines. This includes states where:
Private ownership of operational slot machines is prohibited.
Special licenses or permits are required to own, sell, or operate slot machines.
Restrictions exist on the sale or transportation of slot machines into or within the state.
Antique Slot Machines
Some states differentiate between operational slot machines and antique or non-functional slot machines. Typically, antique slot machines—often defined as being 25 years or older—may be permitted for personal use or as collectible items, even in jurisdictions where operating slot machines are restricted. However, it’s important to note that the exact definition of an antique slot machine and the conditions for lawful ownership vary by state.
In Montana, we refer to slot machines that are 25 years or older as antique slot machines, which is a specific legal distinction in that state. This is somewhat different from the common understanding of an antique, which is typically defined as being 100 years old.
In other states, slot machines that are over 25 years old may be considered antiques, but the laws governing them can differ. Some states may require that such machines be deactivated or modified to prevent gambling, while others may allow them to be owned and displayed as collectible items for non-commercial purposes.
Buyer’s Responsibility
By bidding on this lot, you are acknowledging and accepting responsibility for ensuring compliance with your state’s laws regarding the ownership, sale, and operation of slot machines. We do not take responsibility for any issues that may arise from non-compliance with your state regulations.
