Gauffered edges, dentelle. Lower portion of front joint split. Spine darker, wear at its crown and base. Corners of covers have a little wear. Silk surface of free endpapers loosened. Short tear to a folding map (just barely inside its border) still an attractive book. Ink gift inscription on inserted leaf: “August 1, 1945/ Sicilian Hof/ Potsdam, Germany/ Last Conference of Big Three: Harry S. Truman (per ARG)/ Clement Atlee (Per ARG)/ Joseph Stalin (per ARG)/ Abram R. Gennet (per ARG)/ For my… Happy Birthday/ S’est bon!” Handwritten note placed in at front endpaper by a modern owner: “This book came from the Cecilienhof [sic] Castle (above Potsdam?) Where Truman, Stalin, Churchill, Atlee met for the Potsdam Conference. The Book was purchased for American Cigarettes-. By A. R.
