Lead Piper Owen - Steer
Description
Seller: Piper Owen Group Affiliation: Chico Grange Species: Steer Animal Weight: 1,310 lbs Hi my name is Piper Owen. I am 17 years old and a senior at Chico High School. This school year I am starting my fourth year in Chico Grange and my fourth year in Chico FFA. I have been showing animals and selling them at both fairs for 8 years through 4-H when I was young and now grange and FFA. Livestock is a huge part of my life, as of right now we have four heifers who are up in Susanville for the summer getting bred and we have 3 new calves that were just born this past april. We had 2 bull calves and one heifer. With my family we plan to take the two bull calves and sell them as steers and I plan to show the heifer as a purebred angus at jackpots this upcoming year. I am excited to bring all of our cattle back down to our house so I can start halter breaking and working with them. Added onto all the livestock I raise I also am deeply involved in my FFA and grange programs. I recently just earned my state degree and am working towards my American degree in FFA. I currently hold the position of president for the Chico Grange and was recently elected to the position of president for Chico FFA. I have been involved in speaking competitions, livestock judging teams, been to many conferences and much more. This year will be my third year in the AG leadership class. I also recently had the opportunity to audition and was selected to perform at the FFA talent show. This was during the State Convention where I sang in front of 7,000 people in the Golden One Center. FFA has offered me so many opportunities and helped me become the person I am today. Outside of FFA and Grange my other hobbies are showing animals at livestock shows, singing, breeding animals, and hanging out with my friends and family. This year I am raising a steer for the Butte County Fair. He is projected to weigh around 1350 when the fair comes. This steer was one that we bred ourselves and he came out of our angus heifer. He was born in April of 2023. I am super excited to be showing our own bred and owned steer this year. I started halter breaking him last September when he came back with his mom from the breeders. We weaned him off his mom and then put him in our smaller pasture along with the other two calves to start halter breaking. He didn't like it at first but he got used to it over time. He has been taken and shown at many jackpots all over california since he was about 7 months old till now. He placed good in every market class he was in and the judges always said good things about him. He also did great for me in showmanship all year and I actually won my first buckle with him back in April of this year. We won champion senior showman at Northern Exposure cattle camp. My steers name this year is Maverick and he has been a lot of fun to raise. He gets walked morning and night and washed at least two times a week. I am super excited to show and sell him at the fair this year. I will also be showing a breeding goat this year. Her name is Rachel and we just recently bought her and her sister phoebe a couple of months ago. She has a very bubbly attitude and is always super energetic. I am very excited to show a new species this year and hope she works well for me in the show ring. I would like to invite you to the Butte County Fair Jr Livestock Auction. This year the auction is slightly different and bidcal is helping with the auction so there is an option to bid online and do add ons at Bidcal.com. The auction will be on Saturday August 24th at 10 AM. There will also be a buyers breakfast that morning at 8 AM. There will be steers, hogs, lambs, goats, and rabbits for sale. And I hope you can come support 4-H, Grange and FFA kids. Thank you for your support. I hope to see you there. Sincerely, Piper Owen

After wining your lot, please provide a timely response to designate custom or resale. If we don't hear from you, your lot will automatically go resale. - See below for terms of sale. What are your options as a buyer? - The winning bidder of each lot will have the choice of (1) CUSTOM PROCESSED or (2) RESELLING THE ANIMAL. Details of each option are as follows: Option 1: CUSTOM PROCESSED The animal will be processed, inspected and delivered to one of the designated lockers in the area. You will need to indicate your preference of butcher shops and make arrangements with them for cutting instructions. Any animal that is left over 60 days at a butcher shop may be disposed of at the discretion of that shop. If you purchase a custom processed animal, an additional processing fee applies and will be reflected on your invoice from the fair. You are also responsible for the cut and wrap fee to be paid to the butcher shop when you pick the animal up. Option 2: RESELLING THE ANIMAL Animals that are bought by individuals who do not desire the meat will be resold at market price to the packer for a set per pound price and that amount is then subtracted from the buyer's bill by the fair. Example: Hog weighs 250lbs. If Resale Price is $.80/lb. which equals $200 Your Winning Bid Price is $4.00/lb ($1000); The difference is $800, which is the amount that you will be responsible for paying. Resale Prices: The resale amounts are calculated by the weight of the animal. The official certified weight will be listed on each lot. THERE IS NO LIVE ANIMAL PICK-UP!
