Lead 1936 Reemtsma Olympia Jesse Owens Rookie Cards (2)
Description
1936 Reemstma Cig. Olympia 1936-Band II #57 Jesse Owens Rookie Card / 1936 Reemstma Cigarettes Olympia 1936-Band II #57 Jesse Owens Rookie Olympic Track & Field Tobacco Trading Cards (2 Cards Total). The legacy of Jesse Owens is unquestionably iconic, transcending the sport of Track & Field. He achieved international fame at the 1936 Berlin Olympics by winning 4 gold medals (100m, long jump, 200m & 4x100m relay), he was the most decorated athlete at the games that year. He's often credited with crushing myths and narratives surrounding racial supremacy not only prevalent in Nazi Germany but also in the United States. Delivering profound victories on the world stage made Owens an international icon and possibly the most famous track and field athlete in history. One year prior at the 1935 Big Ten track meet in Ann Arbor Michigan, Owens set 3 world records and tied another, all within less than an hour. This feat has never been repeated and many called it "the greatest 45 minutes ever in sport". Please see images for details regarding condition.
