This is an original, factory marquee from a 1981 Midway Ms Pac Man arcade game. It is used. The pink looks nice and vibrant and from a distance, this looks like a great original marquee. However, once you get up closer to it, you notice that it looks like it has some kind of leprosy or other disease. It's like the outer layer of the plastic started breaking down or something. I honestly can't figure out what it is. I've seen this disease on dozens of marquees, mostly midways from the early 80s. If you know what it is and how to treat it, please contact me and let me know. But definitely this is good enough for wall art.
I know you can buy new marquees for about every game ever made on eBay these days for pretty cheap - like under $30 for anything. But (no offense to the guys who print them) the repros sold on eBay just don't really end up looking like an original marquee.in most cases. Maybe it's because they are working off scans instead of the original art files from the company? Maybe it's because they are using consumer grade printers and materials? I don't know. I just know that every marquee I've bought from eBay has been "adequate" for my purposes, and better than no marquee, but never as good or accurate as an original. for that reason, I personally ALWAYS will choose to use an original marquee, even used and damaged or faded or cracked over using one of the repros from eBay. But that's just me - I'm sure there are differing opinions out there and I am not prepared to argue the point. Just sharing my personal opinion.
So with that said, I am offering some of my extra marquees here in case anyone wants or needs one. If not, no problem.
This would make interesting and great wall art, regardless of the condition. Sometimes I have spray painted over the back of a marquee with paint flaked off to at least fill in all the clear/flaked areas with usually off-white. That sometimes makes it look even better as wall art. It also helps a ton if you are going to back-light it in the game or in a box on the wall - it doesn't look great when you can see the light bulb through paint flakes. A light coat of off-white spraypaint can often make it usable and in some cases doesn't even look that bad. But that is something you must decide on a case by case basis.
I am willing to ship this item, with a single $10 packaging / handling fee for 1 or as many marquees as you buy.
