This is a decent condition, fully working, dedicated, upright, Midway Space Invaders game! And not only is it fully working, but it has a brand new PCB. It is still running on everything else original - the monitor, power supply, power brick, and wiring harness. But some genius figured out how to create a perfect replacement for the original game PCB that fits exactly physically and plugs into the exact same connectors as the original, and works flawlessly.
In fact, not only does it work flawlessly, it actually allows you to play dozens of other Midway and Taito classic black and white games! You can configure it to only play Space Invaders and no one would ever guess there is a replacement board. Or you can allow people to pick from a long list of other classic black and white games to play with the same controls and monitor.
Also, if you are a purist, there has been no modification made to the cabinet or wiring. So you could buy a working original Space Invaders PCB set on eBay or elsewhere and just plug it in. I'd include one if I had one but the boardset that was in this cabinet was not working unfortunately. I honestly think this new board system is a huge improvement though.
The cabinet is in great shape if you consider it from 6 inches above ground level. The bezel is near perfect AND it's a nice glass bezel, so no scratches or fading or dulling or cloudiness. The control panel is in excellent condition. The coin door is nice, and has a lock and two quarter coin mechs, a cash box and a lid.
But when you consider the bottom about 6 inches of the cabinet, it is a little rough. This must have been in a flood or at least an instance where the bottom 6 inches got momentarily wet, because it is a little rough from obvious water down there. It's not super bad - the cabinet is still solid and not falling apart. The worst is the front wooden panel under the white part - it is starting to show damage. But it could be replaced pretty easily if you tip this on its back. The bottom edge on the other sides don't look bad. And it doesn't look bad inside so the water must not have gotten very deep when it did get wet.
At any rate, it is by far the nicest Space Invaders I've sold so far (and I think it's the about the tenth upright if you count deluxes) So the nicest out of 10. Definitely worth saving and should earn its space in a nice collection.
The monitor has an outstanding picture - bright and sharp! The sound is great.
Please note: Sometimes in the pictures above (and even sometimes in the video), the monitor looks like it isn't displaying correctly. However, that is only because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Usually this is not as bad in videos, so watch the video included above and you should be able to see that the monitor has a great picture (although sometimes it looks funny even in videos). You are just going to have to trust me that, unless I specifically mention it above, the picture is good on this monitor in real life.
