This one was a tough decision for me - as far as what to do with it. This is a nice, solid, great condition 4 player cabinet that is the NBA Jam style cabinet. And it has a non-working Gauntlet Legends boardset in it. The choices were: 1) fix the boards or hard drive and sell this as a working Gauntlet Legends. 2) Convert it into an NBA Jam game and sell it as that. 3) Leave it and sell it as a project.
Well, I kept procrastinating and pushing the decision off until the decision was made for me: #3. I ran out of time to do either of the other options. So I will let YOU, the buyer, decide whether you want to restore it as a Gauntlet Legends or turn it into a JAM.
The monitor appears to be working, as does the power supply. The controls are in great condition and actually look like they are new. The cabinet is in outstanding condition - clean, solid, crisp, no water damage, no busted corners, no gouges or other damage that I could find. It really just needs a working boardset and it could be any of a number of games.
Technically, the main cabinet was originally a Midway War Gods (which is a very rare cabinet to be honest). However, someone combined the War Gods main cabinet with an NBA Jam control panel (War Gods has a 2 player panel, and this panel is a 4 player with the exact button layout for NBA Jam or Tournament Edition). And it appears to still have the original wiring harness, which should be compatible with NBA Jam boards.
I don't know what is wrong with the Gauntlet Legends boards - it could just be as easy as needing a new hard drive. I'm not an expert on these Vegas boards. In fact I'm so inexperienced I'm not even a novice...I'm a newbee.
The marquee is a bit darkened and has some cracks. But the light fixture behind works. The coin doors are in great shape and there are quarter mechs installed. The CPO actually looks in great shape, it could just use the plexi removed so it could be cleaned under. I didn't have time to do this. The bezel is in great shape.
You can see in the pictures and the movie that the monitor does appear to be working with a blank screen since the boards are not powering up.
This may be a real steal for someone out there wanting an NBA Jam. They have been going up in value / price for the last few years, and this would be a really nice one with just some sideart, marquee, CPO and some boards.
