Description |
One of the rarer pinballs out there - under 1000 made back in 1985. But a great game, nonetheless - CYBERNAUT! This was the LAST Bally game to use this particular solid-state PCB system. Originally designed and deployed 10 years earlier in Bow and Arrow. It was really quite successful design.
This Cybernaut is shopped and 100% working. It has been "LED"ed, which means all the bulbs have been replaced with their newer LED equivalents. And I use only the best Coin-taker Super LED bulbs. I think they are the best available. It also means I had to replace the lamp driver board as the original Bally one doesn't drive LEDs well.
The playfield was cleaned and waxed, and all new rubber bands installed. Every single switch, coil, lamp, display segment, sound effect, has been tested and is working properly.
This is a really fun game with great rules and fun shots. The ramp looks easy, but has to be hit just right for the ball to be launched into the tube. The drop targets in the middle of the playfield are a cool, rare feature. The tiny rollovers at the top are fun, as you can win a free game just for rolling over all 4 on a single ball launch. The artwork / coloring on this game are also some of the best ever. This game just looks great in almost any setting. I know this game was made near the end of Bally's run, but I think Bally was totally on top of their game when this was released. The sound effects are also great - I love Bally's sounds from this era.
The backglass on this game is in excellent condition. The paint is just barely starting to lift along the bottom of the glass, but is still intact and looks great. As long as it's handled with care, it will continue to look good for decades to com.
The cabinet is in remarkable condition - especially for this era. This is when Bally switched to using 4-color artwork silkscreened onto decals that they applied to cabinets rather than painting the cabinets directly. It allowed for more vibrant artwork, but the downside is that the decals often would peel off. Most games from this era are missing some or most of their artwork. This game has it 100% intact, and it looks phenomenal.
The coin door is in great shape and has lock and key, plus two working quarter mechs and a coin box.
The playfield definitely has some wear and tear on it - I can't hide that. This game came out before diamond plate, so any good pinball machine was destined to have some paint wear off with normal use. This is a very fun game and probably saw quite a bit of play. Fortunately, this only affects aesthetics - the game plays great.
The head hinges down and the legs come off, for easy transportation and installation.
