Lead 1910 Comiskey Park White Sox Baseball Stadium Seat
Description
Original wood and metal frame seat with iconic green paint removed from the home of the Chicago White Sox, Comiskey Park, at the time of the stadium's demolition after the 1990 Major League Baseball season. Known as the "Baseball Palace of the World", Comiskey Park served as the home of the Chicago White Sox from 1910 through 1990. During that time the stadium would host four World Series events (one of which the stadium was used as home field by the Chicago Cubs) and 3 All-Star Games (including the first in 1933). The seat offered here was installed in 1910 and removed at the end of the 1990 season shortly before the stadium would be demolished and turned into a parking lot. This seat was there for the very first game ever played at Comiskey and for the very last game played at Comiskey. Between those games this seat witnessed the infamous "Black Sox" scandal, Disco Demolition Night that would result in only the fourth ever game to be forfeited, numerous concerts, including the Beatles, and two boxing matches that would bring both Joe Louis and Sonny Liston to the park. Many more memorable events took place at the stadium. This seat remains in its original condition having never been restored or touched since it was removed from the stadium at the end of the 1990 season. It was common for stadium seats to be repainted prior to the start of each season and some of those layers of paint are chipping off the original wood slats. The seat is approximately 20 inches wide and 30 inches tall. All of the wood slats are original as are both iron side arms. There is some obvious rust on the iron frame which is very common with these seats. The seat folds and unfolds with ease. This is truly a piece of history and a must have for the serious White Sox fan or collector of stadium artifacts. This is a heavy piece and is ONLY AVAILABLE FOR LOCAL PICKUP OR THIRD PARTY SHIPPING. We will work with you as best we can to make arrangements for third party shipping.
