This is a SUPER nice original, dedicated, factory Williams BUBBLES cocktail table video arcade game. It is fully working and in outstanding condition. Probably the nicest game in the entire auction. It is as close to mint as it gets. The monitor and power supply have been rebuilt with new capacitors.
The cabinet is basically flawless. I can't find anything wrong with it. The control panels look perfect to me. The controls work perfectly. It has the original 49-way optical joysticks that Williams used on early classics like Sinistar and this game. Unlike most other Williams cocktail games (which used a small 13" monitor), this game came with a full-size 19" monitor. This is a game that really benefits from a larger monitor. The coin door looks to be in great condition, and has a working quarter coin mech and original cash box. It also has new LED bulbs to light the start buttons. The top glass and instruction cards are in great shape.
Bubbles is really a fun game with a lot of depth and increasing challenge. I would never sell this, if I didn't already have the upright Duromold version of the game for my arcade museum. This is the only cocktail version I have - and it is also the only one I have ever owned. It is also the only one I have ever seen....I believe it is very rare in this cabinet. Heck, Bubbles is rare in ANY cabinet for that matter, but this is probably the rarest form of it.
The vibrant artwork and large size of the control panels make it an unusually attractive cocktail game. It has a nice wide top that has room for glasses or plates to set on without obstructing the view of the monitor, which makes it ideal for use in a restaurant or bar or barcade.
I noticed that when you first boot it up, it sometimes says "RAM error 31" or RAM error 32", but quickly that goes away and it boots fully and works fine. This should not trouble you in the slightest. I've owned and worked on tons of williams games using this board system. I think it is most likely that it just needs to warm up for 20 seconds before it's at full voltage. But even if one of those RAMs are bad, they are extremely plentiful out there (4016 RAM chips) and cheap, like 25 cents to a dollar a piece new. and socketed so swapping them is simple enough that your mother could do it. Just telling you this for full disclosure. But trust me - there is nothing wrong with this game - it is working fine other than this tiny anomaly.
I know that in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying correctly. However, that is only because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Watch the video included above and you will see that the monitor has a great picture.
