This is kind of a sad story. At least it's sad for me. This is a vintage Upright Megatouch Encore 7, one of the few upright trivia games they made early on. It's kind of an unusual bird. Physically it is in great condition, and until about a week ago, it was fully working. That's where the sad part of the story comes in. Let me explain....
After operating this game for years in a laundromat account I had (and then storing it for a few years after the account went under), I decided to sell it in Arcadia Auctions #2, back in March. So I got it all ready, videoed it, and was about to list it. (The SECOND video above is the video I took for that last auction, showing it working perfectly). But at the last minute, I decided that it would actually fit really nicely in my Pinball Paradise "vault", where the safe used to be in the bank building. So I instead pulled it out of the auction and put it in that location.
I felt great about the decision, and was going to keep it in there indefinitely. But then about a week ago, suddenly the touch screen stopped working. I have no idea what went wrong. The FIRST video above shows it in Pinball Paradise with the touch screen NOT working.
I must admit that I haven't done any troubleshooting - it may be something simple or something very hard....I don't know. But I am running out of time on this auction #3 and need to get 20 more games in it, so I just decided I will sell it and kill 2 birds with one stone (add to the auction and eliminate a service need in my arcade). Probably not the wisest decision I've ever made, but that's ok.
I really hope that you get this home and find some simple solution to it.
If this ends up going really cheap, consider this - it has a fully working, rebuilt (recently) 19 inch Wells k7000 monitor with an amazing picture. I hate to even suggest gutting this for the monitor as it is already such a rare bird in such nice condition.
I know that in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying correctly. However, that is only because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Watch the video included above and you will see that the monitor has a great picture.
REMINDER NOTE: one of the videos above shows the game fully working, one shows it working except for the touch screen. The video showing it working except for the touch screen is the state it is currently in.
