Description |
This is a pretty decent condition 1980 Midway Space Invaders Deluxe upright video arcade game. The cabinet is pretty solid and not falling apart. Much better condition than the one in the last auction. It may have gotten wet on the bottom, but not wet enough or long enough to cause the wood to rot or start falling apart. This one still feels pretty solid on the bottom and shows no signs of water inside.
The artwork is still in very good shape all around. The control panel is in great shape, and the bezel has no paint flaking at all. There are some scratches on the bezel, but those can be removed with Novus plastic polish.
The game is 100% complete (except one coin mech, which I am happy to replace if you remind me). The boards and power supply and monitor all look decent and un-tampered with. However, it is not fully working. The monitor came up originally when I plugged it in with the horizontal hold scrolling, so I couldn't see if the boards were fully working or not. Then when I went to adjust the horizontal hold, it went into vertical collapse (my luck). So now I can't tell what the boards are doing. But I can see movement in the graphics, so the boards must be getting power from the power supply, and the processor is doing SOMETHING to make graphic movement. Hey, it's something. Wish I could tell you more, but that's all I can tell from this data.
There are several guys out there who will work on SI boards, as well as guys who repair these B/W monitors, so you should be able to get this going even if you need to send some parts off. Or you may be able to fix it yourself if you are cleverer than me (which wouldn't take much).
As you probably know, Space Invaders Deluxe is one of the most iconic classic arcade games from the golden age, and makes an amazing rec room piece, even just as decoration to be honest. Heck, if this goes cheap enough, just buy it for decoration!
