This game, when working, is one of the best driving games ever! This is the single-player version of VIRTUA RACING. It can be used either as a stand up cabinet, or you can attach the seat to it and make it a sit-down. I have operated it both ways, and it is a hit however you do it.
I was blown away when Virtua Racing came out, and I really wanted to own the game for my route, but almost every one I saw was one of the giant two player sitdown cabinets. I ran a street route, where there just wasn't room for a giant cab like those. So when I found out they made a single player version, I really wanted one.
Then I had the idea of buying a few of these, and then I could still link them and have the head to head experience without taking up so much room. So I shopped around and found a seller in Wisconsin selling some in Playmeter. It was Jim Stansfield vending. I called him and expressed my interest, but told him that I was only interested if the upright cabinets could link together. He assured me that they could, so I ordered three of them. He had them delivered to me and I paid for them. Then, guess what? Jim lied. They can not be linked together! So I had just blown a ton of money on 3 individual stand up Virtua Racings that can not be linked. Thanks Jim!
Well, it worked out I suppose, I just spread them out across my accounts and rotated them around for probably 15 years, and they did make good money. I sold off the other two and this was my last one. When my route pretty much died 10 years ago, I just took this one and put it in my warehouse basement to store it. Well, there was a flood and this got about the bottom few inches wet, which effectively ruined the cabinet.
So I'm selling it. It also seems to have stopped working. Probably one of the two power supplies didn't like getting wet. It kind of powers up - that is the monitor works, and it goes through the power up sequence of testing the steering wheel feedback motor, which appears to still work.
Well, anyway, look at the pictures and watch the video, and see what you're getting. I think this can probably be fixed pretty easily. And the cabinet is rough on the bottom, but even that can probably be fixed. I just don't care enough anymore and need to make room and get rid of projects.
