This game started its life as a Sega Titan cabinet, housing the popular DIE HARD ARCADE game. This cabinet, when it came out, was supposed to be the future of the industry. The operator I bought this from bought a bunch of these, thinking he would be prepared for the future of arcade gaming. And this Die Hard must have done very well for him, because he never upgraded it or converted it to anything.
However, I looked at this cabinet and thought, "Hey, this would make a GREAT multigame cabinet! It has two players with 8-way joysticks and 3 buttons per player, plus a start button for each....that's what is needed for almost all the games on a 1660 in 1 multigame board!" So I bought one and installed it in this cabinet.
And boy, was I right. The Wells Gardner monitor in this cabinet has such a gorgeous picture it's almost unbelievable. And the control panel feels great and looks great too, for that matter. The marquee still has Die Hard Arcade on it, but it's just a translite with a plexiglass cover, so you can put whatever game marquee you want up there to customize it.
You don't need to worry about water damage with this baby - there is nothing here that water can damage. The game is made of nothing but steel and plastic. It is solid as a rock. And you don't need to worry about it blowing away either - the steel base is heavy and strong.
The game has the coin mech apparatus in the cabinet, but I have put the board on free play as that's what I assumed anyone would want. Accessing the electronics is super easy and nice, with a back door that hinges down and is held by metal chains.
I know in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying right, but that's just because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Trust me, or just watch the video above, and you will see that the monitor has a perfect picture.
