This is a super nice, shopped, working 1993 Bally JUDGE DREDD pinball machine. It is actually on the floor in my arcade, Arcadia: America's Playable Arcade Museum. It has been in the arcade for a few years, and has been popular. I am only selling it becuase I bought a Skee-Ball machine to put right where it is sitting in the arcade and need to remove it. And I have another Judge Dredd in the warehouse, so rather than pull this out and put it in the warehouse, I might as well sell it.
It has been a very reliable pinball machine. It was LED'ed by the previous owner, who was a Caterpillar executive in Morton. I've never really had any trouble with it. I have the magnetic ball crane arm thing disabled in software and I can't remember why...but probably because it wasn't working right. The game works / plays just fine (if not better) with that disabled, so for my arcade it made sense to just disable it rather than try to figure out what the problem was. And now I can't even remember.
Cosmetically, this pinball is in EXCELLENT condition. The cabinet is unfaded on the sides, which is rare. The backglass and playfield are near perfect. There is one plastic broken, and I have the broken part which could be glued or taped. Othewise, the plastics are perfect. The legs are nice. This game is overall an 8 or 9 out of 10.
Judge Dredd is one of the most complicated and deep pinball machines ever made, literally. It is during the absolute prime of pinball games - when Indiana Jones and Star Trek TNG came out. It is a "widebody" or "superpin" which Williams/Bally only made during 1992-1994. This means the playfield is significantly wider and bigger than a standard pinball, so there is a lot more on it. The rule set is so deep that it is possible that you could never get bored of this game.
Also, I have to put in a plug for the theme. This pinball is not based on the lousy Judge Dredd movie, but on the original awesome Judge Dredd comic book from the 80s. It originally appeared in a newsprint type comic from the UK called 2001AD. I used to read this comic, and Judge Dredd was one of several weekly features in it. Then Eagle Comics bought the rights, I guess, and started coming out with pure Judge Dredd comics, which were awesome. I didn't really get very deep into comics, and Judge Dredd was really my favorite hands down. I still have all my old Judge Dredd comics, actually.
Anyway, this is pretty much the nicest game in the auction, bar none. You can bid with confidence on this game. It is 100% reliable and ready to go. We just waxed it at the end of December 2022, so it is still clean.
