Description |
This is a pretty decent Midway GORF project cab. It is complete (except for the bottom back door), and the cabinet is pretty solid and restorable. It looks like there might be some minor water damage on the bottom of the cabinet, like the bottom inch. But like I said, it is minor and appears to have just caused a minimal amount of expansion. The bottom has formica around it, so it still looks great.
Otherwise, the cabinet is good and solid and in good shape. It is complete with all boards and wiring. The monitor is there, but not connected. For some reason, the inputs on the monitor chassis have a different plug than the output from the Gorf wiring harness. I'm not sure why. But all you need to do is adapt one or the other - the signals from the wiring are correct for this monitor -you just need a plug that's the right style to connect to the monitor.
The rest of the boards / wiring are all correct and hooked up, but I'm not hearing any sound so I'm guessing the boards are not working fully. The joystick feels good with good return-to-center, and the trigger feels right. The artwork on the control panel overlay is almost all worn off, so I will include your choice of one of the two extra control panel metals that you see in the pictures above. Just take your pick and it will come with the game.
The coin door looks decent inside and out, and has coin mechs and an original coin box. The marquee and other lamps light up, and show that the silkscreened lightup artwork pieces are all in great condition.
This game should restore to be a very nice Gorf. And Gorf is a REALLY fun game worth restoring - it is kind of like Tron, where it has a bunch of different stages that are all unique and challenging in their own way. If you make it through all 5 of them, you are promoted to the next military rank, and start over only with much more difficulty. Great concept, and very well programmed. It's a fun game.
