This is a very nice example of a Williams DEFENDER cocktail arcade game. It is mostly working. The only thing that is not working is the sound, and that should not be too hard to fix. It is either the speaker, the sound potentiometer, or the sound board most likely. If the sound board, it is probably the TDA2002 transistor which is a cheap part.
The monitor is a Wells Gardner 4500 13" monitor, which I rebuilt and which has a perfect picture and should work for decades to come. These are the most reliable monitors ever made, in my opinion and experiencd (it is the 13" version of the 4600). And let me tell you, rebuilding it is not an easy task. Probably one of the most time-consuming monitors to rebuild. Anyway....
The power supply has been replaced with a new switching power supply and adapter from arcadeshop. The original power supply is still mounted in the cabinet and working, actually. But the previous owner just put in the new power supply probably to boost reliability.
The original game boards are fully working. The CPU board has had the batteries replaced with a lithium upgrade. I've resoldered the molex connectors for preventative maintenance.
The physical condition of the game is very good. The cabinet is solid, no water damage. In fact the only damage to the cabinet is that on one side, the veneer got chipped at the bottom as you can see in the pictures. The control panels are in excellent condition. The controls are in great shape and fully working. The top glass is decent, but has some paint flaking underneath. I believe that someone has reproduced these top glasses though if you want to restore this to tip top shape.
I know in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying right, but that's just because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Trust me, or just watch the video above, and you will see that the monitor has a perfect picture.
