This is a really cool vintage strength tester made in Italy. These were pretty common back in the 70s and 80s in America - they must have made pretty good money in a wide variety of locations. However, since then they have all but disappeared. I have only seen a few of them in the last couple decades, and I bought all of three of the ones I saw. I'm selling two of them in this auction (and keeping one for my own arcade....it still earns very good money).
Both of the ones I'm selling are projects and might be good only for parts - I'm not sure. The three I have are all slightly different inside, although they doubtless share some components. I was going to keep these for parts to keep mine working, but I am just running out of room and life, and so I think it's time to just let them go and throw caution to the wind. If mine dies and I can't find parts, I'll just sell it too and be done with them altogether. But I doubt that will happen - they are pretty well designed and built.
Basically, you drop in a quarter, the measuring gauge resets to zero, and then you push the two bull's horns together as hard as you can. The needle measures how successful you are in pressing the horns together. You can imagine how this would make good money in the right location. I wish it had a bill acceptor on it, or some way to make it cost more than 25 cents, because in 1970, 25 cents was more money than it is in 2023. People would pay $1 to do this in 2023.
This one is missing some components. For one thing, it's missing the actual head of the bull. Of course this is just for decoration, and the horns are still there, which is all you really need. And I think people would still figure out how to use this if you could get it working. Also, there are some wires just hanging in the back , which leads me to believe that something is missing. In the other two I have, there is a transformer there, but they are slightly different in design, so I'm not sure if this one needs the transformer or not. I'm sure you can find some literature out there on the internet to tell you what needs to go there. Or you can just buy this for parts.
Or buy this one and the other one and try to make one out of the two.
