This is a nice, solid, fully working Midway NBA JAM TOURNAMENT EDITION 4 player arcade game! It is running on original hardware - that is a fully working Midway NBA Jam Tournament Edition PCB and sound board. It has a gorgeous picture on the Wells Gardner 4600 series arcade monitor, which I rebuilt in my shop just last night (when this was written).
The game is fully working, and has pretty decent coin doors with coin mechs and cash boxes. The controls work, but really could use refreshed. There are two ways to do that. You can remove all of the buttons / joysticks and soak them in soapy water, then rinse them and clean them real well. Then dry them and put them back on the control panel. Or, better yet, just buy new buttons and joysticks and install them. Buttons are under $2 each new, and joysticks like this are under $10 each new. I'll put a link above to where I buy all my joysticks and buttons.
When you remove all of the controls to clean or replace them, remove the plexiglass protector also and clean under it. I didn't want to take the time to do this, but it is obviously badly needed and will look amazingly better when that job is completed.
The cabinet is actually a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet from 1991, but it is probably worth just as much as an NBA Jam TE so not sure it's worth buying to convert back to Turtles.
The cabinet has 2 x 4 runners bolted to the bottom to make it easier to move without damaging the bottom of the cabinet. Although the bottom of the cabinet looks a tad bit rough already, so not sure what they were thinking there. This is how I got it. You can remove the runners easily - just held on with 2 bolts.
This can easily be changed to countless other 4 player sports or beat-em-up games with this cabinet and control panel layout.
I know in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying right, but that's just because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Trust me, or just watch the video above, and you will see that the monitor has a perfect picture.
