Description |
This is a mostly working 1981 Sega TURBO upright video arcade game. It is in the original cabinet, with decent condition artwork. The Front of the game looks great - the Bezel / Marquee is in outstanding condition. The control panel is really nice too. Still has the original wooden shifter knob and SEGA branded steering wheel.
The game seems to be entirely working except that the sound effects are missing. I have done NO troubleshooting and my guess would be that the sound board just needs the plugs re-seated, or maybe checked for cold-solder joints on the molex connectors. Or just the volume knobs wiggled. If I weren't trying to blow through these games so fast, I would take the time to try to figure this stuff out, but you're better off if I don't because the stuff might sell cheaper.
The picture is excellent, despite the fact that this monitor looks like it has never been rebuilt. It probably could use it, as this game is now 42 years old. It is an original Sega MC-2000 monitor, one of the best pictures ever on an arcade monitor in my opinion.
At the beginning of the video linked above, the monitor is missing Green, but later in the video I wiggled the input connector and the green showed up, so the monitor is fully working and looks great now.
The controls seem to work for the most part. The gas pedal needs adjusted or calibrated because it doesn't work exactly right. But it does speed up and slow down when stepping on it, it just isn't calibrated right.
The LED displays work perfectly. The steering and shifter seem to be working properly. The coin door innards have been somewhat taken apart, but I believe all the parts are there for you to put it back together. For some reason, several of the games I am selling have the coin doors partly disassembled and I really don't know why.
The cabinet on this is in very good condition EXCEPT that the bottom has gotten wet and it is rough on the bottom. The game is leaning to one side because of this. I would guess that there is some rotting wood down there, and probably missing feet. I haven't looked at the bottom because that's tough to do. But you should plan on needing to tip this game on its side and do some cabinet work / repair on the bottom if you want to restore this game. But when you finish those repairs, this will be a very nice Turbo game.
This game has the bottom coin door (which is sometimes missing on these), and also the back door (which is also sometimes missing on these).
I know in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying right, but that's just because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Trust me, or just watch the video above, and you will see that the monitor has a perfect picture.
