Lot # : 132 - Ansel Adams Birds on Beach Photo

Adams was a legendary American photographer known for his beautiful landscape shots shown in black and white images. Image size: 7.5 x 9.5 in. Frame: 13 x 16 in. Provenance: From a private estate in Beverly Hills, CA. He was one of the founders in a group of photographers which believed in a concept of “pure photography” which centered on “sharp focus and the use of the full tonal range of a photograph”. He co-developed a system of image-making called the “Zone System”, which achieves a “desired final print through a deeply technical understanding of how tonal range is recorded and developed during exposure, negative development, and printing.” The immense depth that came from this method is what Adams ultimately is most recognized and loved for.
