Lot # 71
Group - Category Construction & Farm - Livestock
Lead (NSW) SOUND OF SILENCE - THOROUGHBRED GELDING
Description
AS PROVIDED BY VENDOR * NAME: Sound Of Silence (Simon) BREED: Thoroughbred SEX: Gelding HEIGHT:17.2 hh(Not measured) AGE: 5 Sound of silence (Simon) 17.1/17.2 hands 5 year old (28th October 2018) Last raced 21st December 2021 • Feeding - he is good to feed, not a fussy eater. • Ruging- good to rug, he does tend to run hot, so doesn’t need a thick winter rug, and preferably needs a mesh rug in summer as he sweats in a cotton. • Fencing and stabling- I haven’t personally stabled him, but he would have been stabled in his racing career, he has respect for fences. • Tacking up- he is good to tie up while grooming, easy to saddle and bridle, not girthy, doesn’t need pre lunging before mounting. • Floating- he has been on trucks, straight load and angle load horse floats. He travels well, but does sweat. He sometimes needs a bit of guidance getting on the float, I stand in front of him and tap him on the shoulder with a whip and he walks on nicely. When travelling every weekend he does load on without guidance. • Taking him out of property- he is great off property, not spooky. He can be taken out by himself or with other horses, he doesn’t stress if left behind or separated • Feet- he has solid feet, I had him shod when I was riding him, but currently barefoot and is doing well. • Education- he will step up to the mounting block by clicking. Good breaks, correct canter leads, definitely more on the lazy side, soft on the lunge line. Just green. • Exposer- he has been off the property numerous times, he has done trial riding, horsemanship clinics, cattle work, and rides in indoor arenas. He has been exposed to cattle, sheep, chooks, dogs, kids, speakers, camp sites, gun shots, all machinery including tractors, quad bikes ect. • Vices- if standing in sand he will drop and roll, but he is getting out of that habit with more rides in sand. Can be avoided by keeping him moving. • injuries- he has a “deformed” rib, it’s his last rib so doesn’t affect saddle. Iv had vets look at it and they say it’s only a cosmetic issue, it doesn’t affect his movement or mobility.
