This is a decent, fully working Universal MR DO cocktail table video arcade game. The monitor has a nice bright picture. The controls work well, and the sound is good.
Also, if you are unaware, I must tell you that Mr. Do is actually one of the best classic games ever made. I got really hooked on it during my last startup attempt. My partner and I, for some reason, got into a Mr. Do kick and I remember us having late-night brainstorming sessions where we ended up playing Mr. Do emulations late into the night to kind of recharge us. It was then that I discovered all of the depth and strategy to the game. There is a reason that such an oddly named and odd playing game made such a splash when it came out. I think I've seen more classic game cabinets converted to Mr. Do than any other kit game.
Yes, they did release Mr. Do as a dedicated cabinet, but those are very rare - they must have sold 100 times as many kit versions. And 1981 is very early for a kit game - long before JAMMA, so any converted cabinets needed a whole new wiring harness to take Mr. Do - but this was something operators were willing to undergo for such a fun and good earning game.
I do have another, upright version, of Mr. Do in this same auction. Make sure you end up winning one of these two options - you will not regret it. It is such a fun game, and it spawned several sequels that were also fun but never captured the same universal appeal that the original Mr. Do engendered.
This cabinet is solid and in decent shape, but has a little wear and tear, as you can see in the photos. It appears that this cabinet began as a Taito game like Space Invaders Part II, based on the artwork on the control panels. But it works well as a Mr. Do cabinet as well.
It appears to be missing the coin box/door, but I will search through my extra coin box/doors and see if I can find one that fits. No promises there. It is currently set for free play, and should work fine in that setting. It does have a coin mech, but I forgot to test the coin operation since it didn't have the coin box/door.
The legs look like they are the kind that can be adjusted up and down to suit your height. Also, it could use some cleaning up, and the legs would polish up to be really nice and shiny if you use some Turtle Wax chrome polish. I didn't take the time to do it.
I know that in the pictures above, the monitor looks like it isn't displaying correctly. However, that is only because the shutter speed is too fast on my phone camera. So it captures the picture while the monitor is drawing the screen and looks like half the screen is missing. Watch the video included above and you will see that the monitor has a great picture.
