Jovi is a 6yr old Fresian x QH mare located near Gawler, SA.
This is our third listing for Jovi and I have had a large amount of off market enquires from people after seeing her auction add.
Please be advised we will only sell through the auction platform not privately as requested, as it is the safest platform to do so now due to scammers and non payers. It’s that simple.
Jovi is a 6yr old Fresian x QH mare who is greenbroken and currently spelling. Jovi possess a naturally beautiful frame and has eye catching looks. I have only ridden her a handful of times since buying her through Andrew Wilson auctions in January 2024. We bought her with the intention of breeding a mostly fresian baby from her, but have since had a change in personal circumstances and have had to sell off a large portion of our herd, due to a significant lack of hay in SA and the subsequent financial pressures around that.
On the occasions I did ride Jovi she was level headed and very trainable. No dirt or nasties demonstrated. I last rode Jovi four moths ago. She has been spelling since that time. I’ve not ridden her enough to say a lot about her other than her head was screwed on, she listened, her body was a bit green but not too bad considering, her brakes worked great and she didn’t rush forward at all. She only went into the next gate when asked to do so and halted as soon as asked to. Our arena is right on a very busy road. It’s horribly loud with traffic. This didn’t seem to offend her in anyway.
I bought Jovi through Andrew Wilson in January this year for $5100. We are aware the market is currently a buyers market and her reserve absolutely reflects this.
Jovi is a super affectionate mare and very interested in everything her human is doing. She is very intelligent and trainable.
Previously Jovi was a bit fussy standing still for the farrier but the last two sessions she has literally stood still and been be very well behaved. No issues at all.
Jovi has been known to be food aggressive around other horses in the past but this has recently settled quite a bit. Having said that this morning as I write this add she acted food aggressive this morning again. It doesn’t bother us as we’re used to big herds with lots of personalities and ever changing dynamics but someone else may prefer to house her seperately. She currently shares with one other mare and three geldings.
Jovi is super easy to rug in the paddock and loads and floats, as well as hard ties to float without issue on the couple of times we've travelled with her. We have a large angle load so I have no idea how she goes on a straight load sorry. Video of her floating is attached.
Jovi would make an excellent prospect for any show home, or a knowledgeable home familiar with greenbreakers/restarting as she has been spelling for past four months. I consider her very willing and intelligent and trainable.
All the hard work is done she just need miles under her belt. Her basics are established and she has a flashy presence about her with a lovely natural movement. Would excel in dressage but is a clean slate for your chosen discipline.
The video in the link is the only video I have of her I’m sorry. I often train and ride my horses alone so I simply don’t have heaps of content of her when I did ride her unfortunately.
Previous owner took her out to one event for exposure and apparently she took it in her stride.
There are no known medical issues and she has had no injuries or medical incidents since we’ve had her. Her teeth are due in December, worming is up to date and so is farrier.
A sweet mare with a bright future.
