I'm Aiden Amator and I'm excited to exhibit my Market Lamb, "Kong" and Breeding Ewe, "Salty" at the Butte County Fair! Please read more about Kong, Salty, and me in my buyer's letter!
Dear Prospective Buyer,
Hello! My name is Aiden Amator, and this is my 8th year showing livestock at the Butte County Fair. I’m 17 years old and going into my final semester of senior year at Oak Bridge Academy. I am thrilled to graduate a whole semester early! Once I graduate, I will be sticking around for another year to continue showing and get a job in the agriculture industry. Once I am done showing I would like to move to the Midwest and work on a sheep operation. When I am not in school I enjoy fishing, hunting, hanging out with friends, but most of all showing competitive sheep across the West Coast. Showing livestock year- round takes a lot of dedication and I take pride in my work.
I have had quite a bit of success showing this year with my ewe, Salty. In April, we went down to the Revival Livestock show in Paso Robles, California and at only 95lbs she won Reserve Champion Wether Dam Ewe in Show B and was 3rd Overall Wether Dam in Show A. This was a huge win being that there were competitors from Washington to Arizona and California to Oklahoma and Texas! From there she went on to be the Supreme Champion Wether Dam Ewe at the Stateline Spectacular Jackpot in Tulelake, California in June. I spend the majority of my time getting my sheep ready for shows year round and would like to expand my range of shows next year by competing at the Arizona National Livestock show and potentially American Royal in Kansas City or NAILE in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, next year I plan to increase the number of sheep I have in my show string for more possibilities of success.
This year I raised a market lamb for the 2024 Butte County Fair! His name is “Kong,” and I purchased him from Randy Hill from Indiana back in March. Between feeding, cleaning pens, excercising on the treadmill, showmanship practice, and trying to grow the shaggiest legs possible I spend about 20 hours a week with my sheep. Not only has he been a time investment, but a financial investment as I want him to look his best with a chance to potentially win the Market Lamb show! I was fortunate enough to win the Market Lamb show last year at the Butte County Fair. By the time of the auction, I expect Kong to weigh about 155-160lbs. On top of exhibiting Kong, I will also be showing my breeding ewe, Salty!
I write this letter to invite you to the Butte County Fair Junior Livestock Show and Auction. I will be showing Kong and Salty on Thursday, August 22nd beginning at 8 AM. Additionally, a fun addition to the fair is an all-species Grand Drive at 6 PM on August 22nd as well. This is must see attraction if you ask me! Lastly, the auction is Saturday, August 24th starting at 10 AM in the McClanahan Pavilion. If you are a new buyer, you can register under the Livestock tab on the Butte County Fair webpage or call the office at (530)846-3626. Additionally, us exhibitors are fortunate enough to have Bidcal run an online add-on option for additional supporters. You can find this as an open auction on the Bidcal website! I hope to see you a the Butte County Fair and have your support! If you have any further questions, please text or call (530)514-9430 or email amatoraiden@gmail.com.
