ABOUT PHILLIP WEEKS: Born and raised in Alberton, Prince Edward Island, Phillip Weeks began collecting at approximately 16 years of age. Now 76, he has spent more than 60 years pursuing a lifelong interest in antiques, artifacts, craftsmanship, and the everyday objects that preserve the stories of earlier generations. Phillip never limited himself to one collecting category. He followed his curiosity wherever it led, creating a broad and highly personal collection that ranges from local pottery, decoys, tools, advertising, furniture, and Indigenous basketry to marine artifacts, military items, bottles, pharmacy pieces, unusual household objects, and countless historical curiosities. To Phillip, no object was too ordinary if it had a story to tell. A dedicated supporter of Prince Edward Island heritage, Phillip developed an extensive knowledge of Island history and a particular appreciation for objects connected to PEI and the Maritimes. His collection and expertise even led to an interview opportunity with the television series Canadian Pickers. For 47 years, Phillip lived on a rural property where several large outbuildings allowed the collection to grow naturally over the decades. It was never assembled as a formal or narrowly curated collection. Instead, it reflects a lifetime of searching, learning, building, preserving, and appreciating objects of every description. Phillip also brought his own creativity to the collection, transforming salvaged gears, gauges, insulators, marine pieces, and other vintage materials into distinctive steampunk lamps and decorative works. These handmade pieces appear throughout the auction alongside the antiques and artifacts that inspired them.
