Chet Himes was a professional audio engineer and bass guitarist from Texas. He passed away in August 2020.
Chet produced both Grammy and Oscar award-winning projects. Chet began his professional audio career in Texas in 1971 with 8-track recording studios in San Antonio and Austin with partner Christopher Cross. Himes then worked at Odyssey Sound Ltd. Austin and mobile recording company Reelsound Recording.
From 1974 to 1980 Chet spent considerable time with Christopher Cross, developing their live stage presentation, as well as their unique studio sound and Chet's recording techniques. Their unique sound became successful with their first Warner Brothers album, "Christopher Cross", winning five Grammy awards. Chet was nominated as "Engineer of the Year" for his work, receiving awards for engineering and mixing the "Album of the year" and the "Song of the Year".
