Mrs. Heather taught Home Economics for 35 years at Dover High School in the Capital School District. Pat's passing was a great loss for the community. Being a true leader and advocate along with Pat's compassion, and generosity highlighted her sense of responsibility to make a real difference in the lives of others. These qualities were especially displayed through her involvement with the Arc of Delaware. In 1956, she was one of the charter members who founded the Mid-Del Chapter of the Arc, advocating support and services to the disabled in lower Delaware. Since that time she has continued her leadership, advocacy and humanitarian efforts in multiple areas: spearheading group home monitoring, coordinating Palmer Home grants, coordinating efforts for the monthly dances, soliciting contributions for the annual Walk-Run-Roll, serving as President and Vice President of Mid-Del and serving on the State Board of Directors. Pat was the recipient of the Outstanding Service Award for Mid-Del in 2004, the Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer in 2007 and the Lifetime Achievement award in 2014.
