The 98015SMTCP single-cylinder deadbolt featuring SmartKey
technology is part of Kwikset’s Signature Series of products and
is both tough and attractive. In addition to its ANSI/BHMA Grade
1 certification, the 980 deadbolt features SmartKey re-key
technology, an innovation that gives you the ability to re-key
your locks in a matter of seconds without removing the lock from
your door. The SmartKey cylinder features a stainless steel side
locking bar, racks, and pins for increased strength and security,
and patented side locking bar technology offers improved security
by protecting against lock bumping, an attack technique used to
defeat conventional pin and tumbler locks. Add it to a keyed knob
or lever for additional security.
Simple Re-Keying
You can re-key your lock in three easy steps: Insert the
functioning key and turn it 1/4 turn clockwise; insert and remove
the SmartKey learn tool and remove the functioning key; insert
the new key and turn it 1/2 turn counter clockwise. The lock will
then be re-keyed without the hassle and cost of replacing the
entire lock or removing it from your door. All of this allows you
to feel confident in providing temporary access to neighbors,
babysitters, contractors, and household help, knowing that any
