Your bid will be placed at $1,000, someone else bids $1,100, you are automatically put back in as high bidder at $1,200. This process will continue until bidding stops OR your max bid is reached. Another advantage, if your MAX bid is $1,500 and someone else puts in a MAX bid of $1,500. Because you placed your MAX bid first, you will be awarded first position at $1,500. Pre Bid vs Live Bid: Pre Bid vs. Live Bid The bidding process changes as we start the closing process of the auction. The online only bidding will transfer over online and live hybrid bidding. At the top of the page you will see a flashing button “Bid Live” you will want to click on that button to enter a NEW page where you will be able to bid from. Once you have entered the LIVE bidding portion, things start happening very FAST. We will close the auction lots in LOT order. In September 1986, over 550 North American llama owners and veterinarians gathered in Kalispell, Montana, for the International Llama Association’s five-day "Glacier Conference ’86." The 16” x 23 1/2” poster is in a numbered series of 300 signed by Montana artist James Clayborn. The llama, Poncho, came from one of Montana’s first breeders, Dr. Steve Johnson of Kalispell. For many years Poncho led Montana’s first backcountry llama pack string for Great Northern Llama Company in Glacier National Park and the adjacent Flathead National Forest. Poncho stands on Glacier’s famous Logan Pass with the park's iconic mountain goat, waterfall, beargrass and snowy peaks. At this memorable conference, experts and professionals spoke on breeding, reproduction and fertility; conformation and health; marketing, packing and fiber; legal, accounting, economic and importation issues; and much more. There was a sidebar Llamas 101 workshop for newcomers and another on alpacas (which were new on the horizon) plus two medical conferences: one for owners and one for veterinarians only. Other highlights were a llama-fiber fashion show luncheon, Western artist quick draw and art auction, live music, a Flathead Lake cruise and vendors galore. The event filled two convention centers and a city park where hundreds of local onlookers visited the llama tent and watched a lively Jamboree with spinning, packing and training demonstrations plus three entertaining llama events: a calcutta cart race, flapjack race and obstacle course. Rare African wedding blanket. Museum Quality. Made by the Fulani tribal natives in the southern Sahara desert of camel hair/goats wool. Woven on 9" narrow looms that could be transported from campsite to campsite on their camels. Each strip was then sewed together to make a reversible blanket. Given to a bride on her wedding night they became family heirlooms that seldom were sold to the public. In 1964 I traveled to Kano, Nigeria, the northern most city in the country. I was able to acquire one of these rare blankets. The condition is extremely good. No holes or stains. It has been in safe storage since 1964. Size: 53" wide by 100 inches long Fully reversible.
