Although born in England, Bough became one of the most influential figures in the development of nineteenth-century Scottish landscape painting. Unfortunately the frame was broken during a move. Artist François-Xavier Marange 1948-2012 Born in France in 1948, François-Xavier Marange arrived in Montreal in 1982. The artist has seen his works presented solo in Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, Vienna, Paris and Majorca and has more than fifty group exhibitions to his credit, including those presented at the Galerie Libéral Bruant (2005), at the Toronto International Art Fair (2005 and 2007) and at the 3rd Île -de-France Engraving Biennial (2001). His works are found in numerous public and private collections in Canada. François-Xavier Marange died in Montreal on October 8, 2012. In the summer of 2013, the Simon Blais Gallery dedicated a tribute exhibition to him.

This voyage was to the islands of the Pacific, Australia, the Pacific Northwest America, Alaska, Kamchatka and Hawaii. In Hawaii, Cook was killed in a misunderstanding with the natives at Kealakekua Bay. This illustration was from a brief encounter with the natives of Norton Sound, Alaska. Webber likely sketched the illustration, a woman with a child on her shoulder a man standing behind her and a log hut, from Cooks journal descriptions of the encounter (from The Art of Captain Cook's Voyages, Volume III Rudiger Joppien and Bernard Smith, Yale University Press, 1988).
