European "Blunderbuss" rifle, probably mid to late 18th century with a well carved blonde wood full-stock. Right hand stock and well carved floral motif just reverse the barrel. Carved steel mounts throughout with light engraving to the tang of the barrel and butt plate. Barrel with a well flared blunderbuss tip. Engraved in gilt highlighting panoply of arms with light floral motifs. Very good all original blunderbuss in unaltered condition with a very crisp action. Ramrod with twisted steel corkscrew tip, ebonized wood, and brass tip. Size 33 1/4" L, barrel 17 1/2" L

Nice French army 1845 to 1855 pattern infantry officers sword with scabbard. Fine diagonally ribbed ebony horn grip with gilt brass twisted wire over. Fitted pommel and guard in a very well pierced openwork with a single downturned quillion. Stamped to the underside of the guard - G3. Gently curved single edge blade with a deep blood groove to just below the spine. Proof marked with a (B) under the crown at the ricasso. Engraved to the spine of the blade with arsenal marks appearing to be the "Royal manufacture of Arms at Klingenthal" in Alsace. Scabbard in gilt brass mounts and leather construction. Size 36" L, blade 29 1/2" L

The weapon factory of Klingenthal was founded under King Louis XV in 1730 and remained active until 1962. It now remains as a museum.

Spanish or Italian Pierced cup hilt rapier with engraved openwork cup. Straight quillion, bar guard, and carved pommel. Long narrow blades and elaborate hilts, rapiers were favored by nobility and civilians for self-defense and dueling. They were often worn as a symbol of status and were associated with the fashionable courtly culture of the time. Size: 38 1/2" L, blade 30 1/4" L

old repairs to cup, loose wire to grip, and wear throughout from time and use

European (possibly English) riding backsword, circa. early 17th century. The 34.5" straight single-edge blade with double thin fullers that terminate toward the end of the blade. The blade is signed within the fullers "CLEMENS * BRACH" twice on the left and "ME FECIT SOLINGEN" twice on the right. The iron hilt/guard is constructed of recurved quillons terminating in globular ends, a forward open ring with globular mid-section en-suite with the knuckle bow that terminates at the globular pommel but does not connect or attach to it. The spiral wood grip is intact, retaining the twisted and braided wire wrap with Turk's head ferrules. Backsword is a type of sword characterized by having a single-edged blade and a hilt with a single-handed grip. It is so called because the triangular cross section gives a flat back edge opposite the cutting edge. The overall length is 40.5" Size: 40 3/4" L, blade 34 1/2"

Overall the sword is in good condition. All iron surfaces exhibit salt & pepper surface rust pitting (some areas worse than others).

Fine German broad sword or hanger circa 1660-1700. The 35" long double edge blade with remnants of engraving on both sides. The most distinguishing features of this type of sword is the double lobes seen on both the knuckle bow and vertical side branch and included a thumb ring; pierced counter-guard panels. Original wood grip of spiral form. A very interesting sword in fine condition. Size 41" L, blade 34 5/8" L

Europe, Iberian Peninsula, Spanish circa mid 1600s. Early form of a known broadsword with a double edged straight blade engraved to the fuller with now illegible inscriptions and crosses. Characteristic crab claw double ended quillion, turned down. Oval ring guard with chiseling and a large fluted shell with period restorations from use in the field. A well traveled sword that undoubtedly saw maritime battle and use with or against pirates. Very nice twisted wire grip and oval pommel hand peened over. Size 33 1/4"L overall, blade 27 1/2" L

Spanish-American War-era bolo of the Philippines is generically called as itak, tabak, or sundang. Size: 23 3/8" L, blade 17 1/4" L

East Africa, probably Eritrea or region. African fighting long sword with a deeply curved slender blade. Handle in horn with a peened over cap to the pommel. Blade is a single edge curved blade with two engraved linear details and a circular form mark to the ricasso with a cross at the center of a swirl. Some checkering to the ricasso area engraved. Leather scabbard with a simple leather tassel to the tip and light geometric patterns.

U.S. American Percussion half stock rifle by C. Baker circa 1835-1850. Rifled octagon-to-round very heavy iron barrel with patent breech (unsigned) with under-rib, forward and rear sights including a circular "peep" sight. The lock is signed "C. BAKER" with simple decorative engraving. Set triggers. All brass furniture includes a butt plate and trigger guard. The half-stock is solid with 26 decorative silver inlays including a deer located on the left side raised cheek section and has a decorative pewter fore-end cap. The stock exhibits an old restoration to the rear section located just above the rear of the lock. The stock overall has minor losses along the upper edges of the fore-end with scratches and dings from years of service. The lock is in good mechanical working order. The wood ram rod appears to be the original with brass tip and brass section concealing an iron worm. A fine and very attractive looking American rifle in the fashion made popular during the Civil War as sniper rifles and after as hunting for buffalo. (34" barrel, .41 caliber) Size: 50 1/2" L

Good antique US military model 1817 Flintlock "Common Rifle" dated "1825" on the barrel tang. Size 36", .54 caliber rifled barrel struck with (2) " US " Proof marks on the upper breech " U.S. " and a " P " and the date " 1825 " on the tang. The musket is in its original flintlock configuration. The musketfeatures all steel furniture with areas of salt & pepper pitting from rust (some areas have deep pitting under a deep brown age patina). The side plate is engraved "51". The lock has many inspectors marks on the parts and is maker marked "U.S." over , "H. DERINGER" over "PHILADA". The stock has an inspectors car-touche just behind the rear side lock screw. "U.S." stamped on the butt plate. The steel ram rod is an old replacement and is too short. The stock is solid with a few long stress cracks very light scratches, dings from service and handling. A great example in good mechanical working order.

European or English, circa 19th c. or earlier. An old Noir black painted funerary helm also known as Mortuary or Mort helms that was set onto a noble or knights effigy. Such examples often had the rear lower lames of the skull removed for fixture into effigy or monuments, this example features a hand forged two piece skull with high comb, plum holder to rear, and open face visor with triple bar nasal or face guard, the lower face lames are ventilated with breaths at the cheeks and have an unused hook latch to either side that once held the plates together, the lower lames or Gorget plates of the helm are consisting of three lames and feature a rolled edge to the base. Size approximately 15" H x 13" W

Most often placed near or at the carved memorial of knights and nobility in the traditional fashion throughout the 14th-17th century for those deemed to be warriors throughout life. The helmets were often painted sometimes in bright colors and located in rural churches and other religious buildings, the practice saw wide spread use in southern England, Cornwall, Scotland, and the remainder of Europe.

Well made set of Roman Gladius style theatre greaves for show and pageantry, most certainly used in the early play or theatre of the 19th century in Italy or Europe. Size 19 1/4" L

Early museum brass or bronze electroplate gauntlet with heavy decoration and engraving detailing intricate crossing patterns of foliage and bands throughout. Rare example of the early electroplate process that was preformed on numerous exception elements of armour in the late 19th and early 20th century. Late examples are often cast from much earlier variations and like miquettes when cast slight details are lost with each transfer. Size 7 3/4" L x 4 1/2" W

Old intricately carved Indian steel shield with copper and silver inlays throughout. Four protruding roundels, numerous depictions of humans throughout, around the outer edge of the face of the shield is scrolling Arabic text throughout. Reverse has two suspension holes from where a handle would have been and now a wire is for hanging. Size 17 1/2" W

Forest green US army hat made by Luxenberg Military & Civilian Tailors in New York. Bright gilt brass American Eagle pendant to center of hat. George Pappas was a full bird colonel who collected arms and Armour among other antiques. His reputation for acquisitions was well known and accumulated a fine collection of art. He served in WW2 and stayed in the reserves until he died at about age 87. He was one of the first neurosurgeons in the medical field. There is a surgical wing named in his honor at Northwell Hospital in Sleepy Hollow NY. Size 11" L

Crescent moon with horizontal details of line work and decoration. Over 37 individual smaller gold beads or charms some in the form of sea shells, one in circular pendant form, and a multitude of pierced and beautifully embossed examples. While the Akan were predominantly Christian they had traded with the moors and Islamic nations. They greatly valued and believed that the talisman, objects, and symbols of Islam were empowered with special properties.

West Africa, Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire, Akan cultures. Very rare basketry motif pendant and long multi-link chain necklace for the adoration of Nana. European colonialist in the period often translated Nana to chief or king although "Ruler" or "one of his various courtiers" is more appropriate . The necklace has a very long chain consisting of two double loop links from one to the other with a single at the pendant mounting. The pendant with a solid gold embossed back similar to a Hispano-Moresque charger. The front with a delicate and exquisitely constructed Akan masterwork of goldsmithing, turned gold woven together over and with a frame through it just as a woven basket. The central frame laced through each of the base weaves and under the turned gold. Size 46" L, pendant 1" W

This piece has been examined non-intrusively with XRF (X-Ray fluorescence) Scan #2748 (Au 68.78 + Ag 28.47 + Cu 2.75).

Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Inca Hinterlands, Chucu, ca. 1000 - 1500 CE. Dishes such as these were used by the ancient Inca people as offerings to Mother and Father Earth (Pacha Mama and Pacha Papa) to protect the health of the members of the clan. This is a fragment of a larger vessel created specifically to be broken then painted, and were sometimes found wrapped in leaves or even gold sheet. This minimalist chevron example boasts stunning original red, black, yellow, and white pigment as well as visible micah that was mixed into the pottery for a gorgeous glimmering effect. Would be a wonderful house warming gift as a blessing to be displayed in a curio cabinet. 11" L x 8.5" W x 1.25" H

United States, southeastern Atlantic coast, likely Savannah River, ca. 28 to 2.6 million years old. This massive primary tooth is from the largest shark to ever exist - so powerful that it could eat a whale in just a few bites! The desirable black root and enamel of this natural and unpolished tooth are indicative of fossilization in what are now the coastal riverways of the United States southeastern Atlantic coast. 5.75" L (slant)

Sharp serrations with one area of chipping to the peripherary as well as minor chipping to the enamel. Root is well fossilized with minor fissures. Overall very good.

ex-private Colorado, USA collection

Northern Asia or Europe, 2.5 million - 11,700 years old. This is a rare jawbone from the extinct woolly rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) complete with three finely preserved rooted teeth. Woolly rhinos once lived throughout Europe and Asia and survived through the end of the last ice age. They are a type of Pleiestocene megafauna, a title shared with the woolly mammoth and sabertooth cat, and just as cool (pun intended). They could grow up to 12 feet long with the primary horn growing up to 5 feet long. As the name suggests, woolly rhinos had a long, thick coat and their primary horn was likely used for moving snow to uncover edible vegetation and possibly for combat as recorded in cave paintings. Would be amazing on a dedicated shelf, along with other fossils, or mixed with a couple of well-selected antique or vintage pieces. 12.5" L x 6" H x 2.5" W

This is a lower jawbone containing three molars. Obvious wear and damage to the peripheries of the jawbone as well as the molars that tell the tale of the fossilization process. Has been stabilized and is ready for display.

North America, United States, Arizona, ca. 225 million years ago. What once was wood is now a highly colored petrified wood slab. You will not be disappointed with this one - the colors are truly astounding and we wish We could keep it for ourselves! Glittering quartz crystal and rainbow agate is created during the fossilization process and is produced by iron, carbon, and manganese. There are so many ways to use and display a piece like this. A simple stand on a shelf would be marvelous, but also consider using it as a centerpiece on your table (doubles as a trivet!), or as tray for a plant or other collectible items. By itself or designing it with your other favorites, you can't go wrong with this one. 10.25" L x 9.75" W x 0.5 H

Ancient Iran, Nishapur, ca. late 10th century to early 13th century. Amazing ancient Nishapur (Persian) glazed pottery bowl with a rainbow iridescent surface that can only be obtained be being about 1000 years old. Scholars believe that these turquoise glazed bowls may have been inspired by Silk Road trade and the famous blue and white pottery from the Chinese Tang Dynasty. This decidedly Western Asian glazing technique however became its own radical Nishapur style. Many old collection labels adorn the foot of the bowl, telling the story of its more recent travels in the last hundred years or so. The iridescence shines well under most lighting, but this bowl really stands out under a direct display light.

Jack Faxon was a Michigan State Senator from 1971-1985, and creator of the Michigan Council for the Arts. Sold for the benefit of the Smithsonian Institution.

Overall very good with all original pigments. Stable cracks and repairs throughout which add character and do not detract from the overall form or aesthetic.

Vintage Indonesian dance mask with a crown of cobras, elaborate and expressive zoomorphic face with horns. Decorated with giant earspools, the figure also has tusks protruding out from his mouth. Jaw is articulated and can move freely, making the figure appear to be laughing or talking. Size 17" W x 9" H

Heavy antique 19th century Indian brass bell with Hindu god Garuda finial. Garuda is kneeling in the usual pose with pointed beak and crown. The bells handle displays fine patina and wear from use over the years. Size 10 1/4" H

Exceptional heavy bronze Indian seated Saraswati in bronze, 19th century or earlier. The statue seated with right leg completely crossed over. The Bodhisattva has four arms posed to hold a now absent stringed instrument known as the veena. She is adorned with necklaces, armbands and bracelets below an ornate headdress. Saraswati, manifested as a beautiful woman, is the goddess of music, art and wisdom. Size 19 1/2" H x 13" W, weight 45lbs, 5 ounces

Each depicted seated with delicate facial features including gentle carved eyes, slightly protruding noses, and slightly upturned incised mouths. In Ifugao culture, Bulul statues are believed to possess spiritual power and are often used in rituals and ceremonies related to agriculture, fertility, and protection. They are placed in rice granaries or fields to safeguard crops and ensure a bountiful harvest. Additionally, Bulul statues are considered symbols of prosperity and wealth within the community. Size of largest 12 1/8" H, 3 1/4" W

Dark mottled patina throughout commensurate with consecration ceremonies including pig or chicken blood.

Unusual Philippines quiver or bamboo container with rattan wrapping to the base and top with a diagonal cut opening and handle protrusion to the top. Size 13 3/4" L

Philippines Archipelago, Bagobo, Mindanao, cylindrical rattan woven basket probably mid 20th century or later. Basket with lid and loops to both sides with a fiber strap running through. For a similar example (https://collections.peabody.harvard.edu/objects/76575) both basket are similar in size with the earlier example in the Peabody museum retaining resin to the rattan. Size 8 1/2" H

Skillfully carved from a single piece of light wood, with a deep ovoid bowl. Bulul stands with his hands at his thighs, his face carved deeply with incised eyes and notched protruding nose. Size 9 3/4" H on included custom stand

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Timor Island, late 19th to mid-20th century. Carefully incised and carved from a section of buffalo horn, this spoon represents incredible attention to detail and craftsmanship. Slightly curved from the handle to the ovoid bowl, with a rectangular bird finial. Lovely floral incised design to between sections of anthropomorphic designs. The complex design is captured both on the front and the reverse of the spoon mirroring it throughout. Size 8" L

Fine patina throughout with no signs of restoration. Some wear commensurate with age.

Fine group of vintage betel nut cutters in brass and iron with copper inlay. Two cutters are stylized as peacocks, one much more elaborate than the other. In the gilt gold example the peacock is intricately decorated with incised designs. Iron betel cutter with copper inlay in floral detail, red painted designs throughout. Size of largest 6 1/2" H

The body or stem of the doll quite thick. Breast oversized with a series of pierced points above. Thick arms, neck with carved ribs and numerous rings of yellow gold-colored beads. Various points of the doll feature a series of three horizontal dashes, in some areas vertical, and the reverse of the head a symbol resembling horns in opposition. Size 16 1/2" H included on custom stand, 6 1/2" W

Introspective, serene, and welcoming this statue stands over four feet tall, and carved from one large section of wood. She stands nude with hands turned upwards. Her belly with incised and raised scar designs, and hair in a cylindrical hat on her head. Such Alusi figures are placed in shrines and venerated as family guardians, the open hands indicating a generous nature as well as readiness to receive offerings. Size figure 56 1/2" H x 11 1/2" W

They are considered sacred among the sages of many ancient tribes. The stones have been used in rituals to contact extra-terrestrials, spirit vision quests and astral journeying.
