He became close friends with Michelangelo Caravaggio, and was much influenced by ""the humanistic approach found in Caravaggio, as well as a clean and elegant line, a basic simplicity, and a warm satistfying color.""From 1610 to 1620, Gentileschi was in Ancona, and then went to Genoa where he had commissions from the Duke of Savoy. Between 1625 and 1626, he worked in France at the request of Maria de Medici, and then became court painter in London to King Charles I."
