1971 Mint Set in Original Government Packaging, 11 Coins Inside. Original packaging: The coins in the 1971-PDS Mint Set were sealed in two pliofilm flat packs: the D-Mint coins were placed together in one of the packs, and the P- and S-Mint coins were placed together in another. A disk identifying the Denver Mint was included along with the D-Mint coins. The pack containing the D-Mint coins was edged in red; the pack containing the P- and S-Mint coins was edged in blue. The two pliofilm packs and two pieces of thin cardboard (for protection) were sealed in an officially inscribed mailing envelope.

In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the us was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

1953A $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades vf++. FR-1656 Five dollar silver certificates were first issued in 1886. The series ended in 1953 with the Lincoln blue seals. The 1953 $5 silver certificate looks very similar to the earlier 1934 issues except that the “5” on the left hand side of the note is in blue, and the seal on the right hand side is smaller. All 1953 blue seal silver certificates feature a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. There is a blue seal on the right hand side of the bill. The serial number is also in blue writing. No 1953 five dollar silver certificate says In God We Trust. Denomination Set of 5 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, 25 Rubles! Grades. The "Sixth Soviet Ruble" was issued first in 1961, and the designs for both the non-commemorative coins and paper currency of the Soviet Union almost remained identical from 1961 nearly until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Briefly before the Soviet Union fell, there was the monetary reform of 1991 and the release of the Seventh Soviet Ruble, with designs that were fairly similar to the 1961 Rubles. These coins were produced at the West Point Mint to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt dime series. The bonds seemed a good investment to the constituents of the confederacy and proved popular, with many varieties being issued. However, with the confederacy's defeat in 1865, none of the bond buyers would ever recieve their promised return. These bonds that once became worthless (and were frequently disposed of) are now rare and valuable paper artifacts of the Civil War. He was the son of Antiochus VII Sidetes and Cleopatra Thea. He left the kingdom in 129 BC and went to the city of Cyzicus, but he returned in 116 BC to challenge his half-brother Antiochus VIII for power. The siblings fought a twenty-year civil war. In 112 BC, Antiochus IX's wife, Cleopatra IV, was killed by her sister Tryphaena, the wife of Antiochus VIII. Tryphaena herself died shortly afterwards. Antiochus VIII was assassinated in 96 BC; he was succeeded by his sons Seleucus VI and Demetrius III. Antiochus IX then took the capital Antioch and married his deceased wife's sister Cleopatra Selene, who was herself the widow of Antiochus VIII. Seleucus VI continued the war against his uncle. In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the us was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

All legal tenders have a red seal. 1928 was also the first year that United States paper money was printed at its current size. Series of 1928 two dollar notes were the first series of three years to feature a red seal on that denomination. The other years are 1953 and 1963. The other two years are much more common. In 1964, just when the mint was removing 90% silver coins from circulation, and the us was having a coin shortage, the Mint announced that beginning in 1965, no Proof Sets, or Mint Sets would be produced, Instead they would be making a Special Mint Set. Special Mint Set coins were not proofs, and were not uncirculated, Mint State pieces. Dies for the coins were over polished, while the planchet themselves were not polished. The resulting SMS coins have a brilliant, proof like appearance, much nicer than the run-of-the-mill circulation coins. In 1965 these sets were released in the Traditional Mint Cellophane and White Envelope and in 1966 and 1967 they were packaged in hard, pale blue plastic holders. Note, the set contains a 40% Half Dollar.

1922 Germany (Weimar) 1000 Marks Hyperinflation Banknote P# 76 Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. In the early 1920s, post-WWI Germany saw its economy spiraling out of control. Hyperinflation started directly after the war in 1918, but truly took over the Weimar Republic from 1921 to 1923. The value of the Mark declined incredibly rapidly. 1 USD was equal to 50 German Marks at the beginning of 1920. Toward the end of 1923, 1 USD was equal to over 4,200,000,000,000 German Marks. At times, denominations of the Mark became less valuable than the paper and labor to print it almost immediately after printing. Thus, denominations of the Mark notes became incredibly large, ending up in the tens of trillions.

*EXCLUSIVE* Hand Marked "Unc Peace Premium," x10 coin Covered End Roll! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (10 coin roll marked “Unc Peace Premium” and having two covered ends and weighing 270.2g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Inside the vault are hundreds upon hundreds of dollar rolls. Some are 10 coin rolls some are 20, most are hand marked as to what’s inside and most have covered ends. We have opened about 20 of the rolls and have not found any that were mismarked. The vault at one point I believe had the rolls separated into three sections. The markings standard, premium, limited were marked on the sections. Additionally there was a small safe inside the vault marked “Reserve”. But when we first the saw the hoard, the sections were empty as was the small safe. It appeared that at some point the rolls were all put into canvas bank bags, which bags were all lying on the floor of the vault. The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction. 1963 $5 Red Seal United States Note Grades vf++. Fr-1536 Each 1963 five dollar red seal bill has serial number written in red ink. There is a red seal on the right hand side of the bill. All 1963 red seals were printed in Washington DC and feature a portrait of Abraham Lincoln in the center of the bill. You can also find the following wording on each bill, “United States Note, The United States of America, This Note Is A Legal Tender At Its Face Value For All Debts Public And Private, Will Pay To The Bearer On Demand Five Dollars”
