Description
"I am struck by every detail the Flint Hills have to offer. A horizon line bends under an open sky; grasses unfurl, and crickets fly. I utilize monotype, a painterly printmaking process, to capture the feeling of a particular moment or season in this place I call home. A brayer, scraper blade, and oil crayons are my main tools for creating sharp edges juxtaposed with drawn lines and hazy fields of color. The submitted pieces are part of an ongoing series I call "Shifting Landscapes", observations of land and sky through layers of ink and mixed media." Monotype, Printmaking. Framed, 12H x 15W. Mary Gordon McFall is an artist and instructor based in Manhattan, Kansas. Working in series using various printmaking processes, Mary explores her natural environment, everyday interactions, and overlooked happenings through a lens of play. She holds an MFA from the University of Georgia and a BFA from Kansas State University.
