Description
"My paintings investigate the sense of transcendence at dusk and other liminal times of day that can render any place a "thin place" when the veil between the two worlds seems the thinnest. This painting depicts dusk or late afternoon after a storm in the Flint Hills, emphasizing dark or subtle colors that contrast with the brilliant colors of the sunset." Oil on Canvas. Gallery Wrapped, 12H x 36W. Dorothy Matheny studied graphic design at Pratt Institute and Art Center College of Design. She worked in a variety of design settings, including Hallmark Cards, before studying with Philomene Bennett and establishing a studio in the West Bottoms of KC, where she devotes most of her time to painting.
