Lead Rob Compton "Impression: Flint Hills Sunrise"
Description
"I intentionally left this canvas more impressionistic. I'm not necessarily referring to the art style here but the overall feel of the viewing experience. I often find the Flint Hills so elusive and rapidly changing that, at times, I just want to capture a sense of light and form. It's clearly still a landscape, but one that is so washed in light that it loses some sense of space and distance." Oil. Framed, 19H x 23W. Rob Compton is primarily a self-taught painter who has learned to paint by studying past masters and contemporary artists, by close observation of the natural world, and most importantly, by working with the medium on a near daily basis. He lives and works in College Hill, a historic neighborhood of Wichita, KS. He has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows regionally, including a solo exhibition at The Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery in Lindsborg, KS. He has shown in juried competitions around the country, where he has earned several special recognitions. His work is in dozens of private collections nationally and is owned by several Midwestern businesses and organizations. Additionally, Rob teaches art history at East High School and through Newman University.
