Alice Hugy, a Minnesota impressionist born in Solothurn, Switzerland, in 1876, moved to St. Paul at the age of six and began her art studies at St. Paul’s School of Fine Arts. She further honed her skills in New York and exhibited her work at prestigious venues like the Minnesota State Fair, Art Institute of Chicago, and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Hugy was not only a talented artist but also a commercial artist involved in WPA projects during the Depression. Known for her joyful still lifes and landscapes capturing scenes of Lake Phalen and the Mississippi River, Hugy was a pivotal figure in the St. Paul art colony and associated with artists like Paul Manship, Edward Brewer, and Clement Haupers. Koestner lived in Minnesota his entire life and, after studying at Minneapolis School of Art, he taught at Atelier Lack, founded by Richard Lack, whom he met in school. Ada Augusta Wolfe, born in Oakland, California in 1878, moved to Minneapolis at 11 and studied at the Minneapolis School of Art and the Art Students League in New York under notable artists like William Merritt Chase and Frank Vincent DuMond. Her work, influenced by painters like Rembrandt and Cezanne, won awards, including first prize at the Minnesota State Fair in 1914 for "Sails on Lake Minnetonka." Wolfe's artistic philosophy emphasized freedom and rebellion against commercialism. Axel David Ericson (Swedish/American, 1870-1946). Oil on canvas painting depicting Lake Minnetonka. Provenance: Leger Galleries, New York; Private Minnesota Collection. Axel David Ericson, born in Sweden in 1870, became one of Duluth, Minnesota's most significant painters after immigrating there at a young age. Despite being self-taught, he gained recognition early in his career, winning a prize at the Minnesota State Fair in 1885 and studying at the Art Students League in New York City. Ericson's travels to Paris and study with James McNeill Whistler enriched his artistic style, which evolved from rustic farm scenes to sensitive figure painting and vibrant depictions of foreign landscapes. His work, characterized by its bucolic charm and French Impressionist influence, is represented in notable collections across Minnesota and beyond, solidifying his importance to the state's artistic heritage. Syd Fossum (American, 1909-1978). Oil on canvas painting depicting grain mills, 1970. Signed and dated along the lower left. Sydney Glenn Fossum, born on November 13, 1909, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, was a prominent American artist known for his versatile work in various media, including drawings, oil and watercolor paintings, screen prints, and lithographs. He studied at the Minneapolis School of Art from 1929-1933, earning a B.F.A. degree, and was politically and socially active during the 1930s, serving as the president of the Minnesota Artists Union. Fossum held teaching positions at institutions such as the Minneapolis School of Art, Washington University, and Des Moines Art Center. His work, ranging from satirical group character studies to pastoral landscapes, is part of prestigious collections including the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Walker Art Center, Des Moines Art Center, and the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. Stanford Fenelle (American, 1909-1995). Watercolor on paper painting depicting a landscape with a rural farm, 1937. Signed and dated along the lower left. Stanford Fenelle, an artist whose career spanned over sixty years, developed a diverse body of work characterized by his principled technique and vibrant use of color. Born in 1909 to immigrant parents in Minneapolis, Fenelle's artistic journey began in seventh grade, sparked by the encouragement of a perceptive teacher. He became involved in the Works Project Administration art division from 1933 to 1942, exhibiting alongside contemporaries and forming lasting friendships, notably with Cameron Booth. Fenelle's career with Brown & Bigelow allowed him to support his family while pursuing his artistic passion, particularly in rendering hunting dogs for calendars. Following his retirement in 1974, he focused on capturing Minnesota's rural scenery, exhibiting his detailed and sensitive paintings infrequently but remaining devoted to his artistic vision throughout his life. For over 27 years, Dick Brewer has explored the transformative power of vibration and energy using a 21,000 RPM die grinder to create abstract images. As he works, guided by music ranging from techno to jazz, the grinder's whining blends with the music, creating a mesmerizing and meditative experience that blurs sensory boundaries and offers a gateway to higher consciousness through a visual field of vibrating sound. David Winfield (American, b. 1951). Signed and game-used Louisville Slugger Minnesota Twins baseball bat. Born in St. Paul's Rondo neighborhood, Dave Winfield won a full scholarship to the University of Minnesota where he played baseball for the Golden Gophers, winning them their first outright championship in 53 years in the 1971-72 season. Though he played for several major league teams, he played for the Minnesota Twins from 1993 to 1994. He is now the special assistant to the executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association. Length: 35 in x diameter: 2 1/2 in.

Kirby Puckett (American, 1960-2006). Signed and game-used Louisville Slugger Minnesota Twins baseball bat. Puckett played twelve years with the Minnesota Twins. He was instrumental in leading the team to the World Series championships in 1987 and 1991. Length: 34 1/2 in x diameter: 2 1/2 in.

Engraved by F. William Bracher. This map was published by George E. Warner (1826-1917) and Charles M. Foote (1849- 1899) who were writers of many county and city histories in Minnesota. F. William Bracher (1827-1912) was born in Wurtenberg, Germany and arrived in Philadelphia by 1850. He was a stone lithographic printer. He worked independently from 1879 to his retirement in 1891 at 31 S 6th St., Philadelphia, the address on on this map. He produced many regional maps of American locales. Copies of this map are found in the Hennepin County Library, the Library of Congress, the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee Library, the New York Public Library, and the University of Minnesota Map Library.
