The American Civil War took place more than a century and a half ago, so many of its original artifacts now reside in museums and private collections. These include slouch hats and butternut uniforms, sabers, smooth-bored and rifled muskets, and Springfield and Enfield rifles. There are also still some antique collector's items from the war being sold online. For sale are recovered bullets and Minié balls, as well as case shot and canister shot fired from cannons by the Yankees of the North and the Rebels of the South. There are also uniform buttons from both the Union and the Confederacy; memorabilia including paintings of famous battles such as Shiloh, Bull Run, and Gettysburg; and even CdV (carte de visite) images, ambrotypes, and tintypes (early photographs) of soldiers. For Civil War re-enactors and casual collectors, there are reproduction hats, sabers, chevrons, bayonets, long arms, and more. Come back to HiBid.com later if you don't see just what you're searching for now. New auction items are posted frequently.
