DESCRIPTION (as provided by vendor)
If you are looking for a One In a Million pony, then look no further, here she is!
Bree is a 7yo, Gypsy Cob x Hackney, she is approx. 12.3h and extremely wide, fully capable of carrying an adult comfortably and happily. Her rider in all photos/videos is 5’4 and approx. 65kg (Me)and she has always carried me with ease, over jumps, on the beach, in the arena and at comps. She has competed Grade 5 with ease, trained grade 4 again with ease, and has even popped over a few Grade 3 cross country jumps, this little lady has so much potential and loves to jump, she has never refused a showjump, even when her rider (Me again, I’m useless) has set her up so badly there is no possibility of clearing it, she will still give it a go and try her little heart out.
Bree has been and absolute little star, taking me out and about over the last few months, her first outing was to a Stockmans Challenge, I’m a nervous rider, especially on the unknown and this was all brand new to her, but she took everything in her stride. Her first ever look at a cross country course was taken at a steady trot, pausing at each jump then popping over, with ease (Grade 5). Working pattern, she was calm and controlled, even had a go at a rollback (while her rider had no idea how to do one themselves) . Then onto the obstacle course where she took nothing was a problem, open the portable gate, a rope thrown over a branch, reversing to lift the bag attached, the only problem being her curiosity at wanting to sniff the bag, a bridge, jump over hay bales, a streamer arch, nothing was a problem, even the balloons attached to posts that were flapping in the wind and had to be popped with a tack on a toy gun while standing beside it!
Her first dressage day, with a rider who is useless at dressage she came 6th out of 10 and 8th out of 10 in her two tests. Her first combined training day she was 8th overall out of 10 with a rider error causing her to knock a rail. Her first showjumping day she came 1st in the 30cm and 4th in the 40cm in pouring rain and behaved impeccably with long cold and wet wait times between classes. Her first horse trials (Grade 5) she placed 2nd overall, a tidy dressage test, a clear jumping round and a clear, but slow steady cross country due to rider nerves and not wanting to push her. Her next horse trials she came in 1st overall, 2nd in dressage, clear round in showjumping and a clear round cross country, just a few time faults, this little girl isn’t slow, her rider is, and she will zoom around a showjumping course if asked or do the entire course from a slow trot, she will jump from a standstill if you want her too.
Her first show she did not leave any class without a ribbon, she is flashy and sweet, loves a cuddle and stands out in a crowd, she is a minimal tobiano and is registered with both the APSB and AGHS society as part bred gypsy, there is a possibility that she is actually a smokey black as she has a buckskin Dam and shows a lot of gold aorund her face and points, I just havent had time to colour test her.
This little lady has no dirt whatsoever, she is relaxed and easy to handle in the arena and out at competitions, my beginner daughter was plodding around on her at her very first ridden show with me, ponies and horses were everywhere, back and forth between the show ring, the showjumping and the games, she didn’t bat an eyelid even when a loose horse was bolting through all of the rings. She can however be spooky out on the trail, she is getting much better, especially if she is with other horses, but she can still shoot forwards at times, however will stop easily after the initial fright.
She is currently being used at a riding school doing lessons for all levels, being a favourite for teaching beginners how to canter as she is so smooth, comfy and easy going in the arena, as well as going out on regular trail rides to the beach with younger staff. Under controlled circumstances she would suit a confident beginner, however I believe she would go a long way with someone with more experience who can take her to her full potential.
This is a very hard sale and I would not be considering it if our current personal circumstances did not force my hand, we will be devastated when she leaves and we know we will never find another pony like her.
Sand arena videos were taken one handed and bareback with a nervous rider on her.
