7 3/4”t. x 10 1/4”d. Mississippian tail rider, Poinsett Co., AR. Depicting hooded bird and a wolverine like animal on tail. Crack at base of neck but otherwise solid, all original, nice form. Pictured in Charles Miles’ Eskimo Art facts of North America, page 170, pictured in Hathcock’s Ancient Indian Pottery, page 27, Bobby Onken’s Legends of Prehistoric Art page 79. Ex. B. W. Stephens, ex. Ed Meiners. One of the most heavily documented of all pots, unusual figural paring. Est. $6000-$9000
