She is beautiful, but her beauty isn't flaunted to feed or lure any depraved eyes. She is who she is, and she is No Mere Maid. Years of deep enjoyment have fed endless inspiration, and not just for me. One only needs to look around at the local art scene to see the outsized influence the Trinidad Coast has had on artists for generations here. It's seen an increased use in recent years, and this last year has been especially rough on our coastline as the pandemic has left many with more time and less money causing many to turn to the coast for a brief and cheap escape. But it does come at a price and we've seen even pristine places overrun with more use and careless waste. The Trinidad Coastal Land Trust has a big job right now as the caretaker of this coast to keep up with the public's relentless use and occasional (and perhaps increasing) abuses."
