Lead Gatsby
Description
1999 17 h. Black Oldenburg Stallion Gonzo I x Kalua Song xx - Seattle Song xx Westfalen Verband NA Stallion Book I Stands at: Mountain Creek Farm, Chesterville, ON Canada Gatsby is improving a wide variety of different types of mares, stamping his excellent qualities on his offspring with amazing consistency. Gatsby passes on his uphill build, long legs, lovely neck/topline, beautiful head, big shoulder, and strong loin connection. Gatsby typically adds substance to lighter mares but he will also refine heavier mares because of his modern type. His offspring tend to inherit his beautiful suspension, natural uphill movement, cadence, shoulder freedom, and excellent canter. Gatsby passes on an elegant hunter style jump that’s also powerful enough for jumpers and eventers. Offspring are winning in Hunter, Jumper, Dressage and Eventing, proving that breeding a balanced, correct, athletic horse means they can do anything! One of Gatsby’s hallmark traits is his outstanding mind. He’s gentle and sweet with an excellent work ethic, an incredibly high degree of trainability and willingness. Gatsby’s foal owners acknowledge that their foals have inherited Gatsby’s mind, temperament, movement and jump, even when these qualities were lacking in their mares. A true ‘Improvement’ sire. Gatsby is by the elite Hanoverian stallion, Gonzo I. Gonzo was America ‘s most requested Hanoverian stallion between 1995-1997. Gonzo was a successful Grand Prix show jumper, an amazing Puissance horse, topping the 7’2? wall on several occasions, and competed successfully through 4th level dressage. With athleticism, work ethic, and intelligence, Gatsby continues the famous legacy of Gotthard, Gepard, and Gonzo, proving the great value of his heritage. Gatsby is an excellent sire! He improves a wide variety of different types of mares and stamps his excellent qualities on his offspring with amazing consistency. CONFORMATION: Gatsby tends to pass on his uphill build, long legs, substantial bone and substance, his neck and topline, beautiful head, big shoulder, and strong loin connection. Not only will Gatsby typically add substance to lighter mares, but because of his modern type, he will also refine heavier mares. MOVEMENT: Gatsby’s foals tend to inherit his beautiful suspension, natural uphill balance & cadence, great shoulder freedom, and excellent canter. Gatsby, himself, is very elegant, light, sensitive, and forward and his foals are excellent movers as well. JUMPING: Time and time again we hear reports from foal owners about their foals’ propensity to jump anything and everything in their way with ease, natural talent, and great form. Several foal owners have reported that their Gatsby offspring will take every opportunity to jump, whether in the pasture or in an arena, just for the fun of it. MIND & TEMPERAMENT: One of Gatsby’s hallmark traits is his outstanding mind, which is marked by a gentle, sweet disposition, an excellent work ethic, and an incredibly high degree of trainability and willingness. Because of the somewhat unpredictable nature of breeding in general, it’s obvious that both parents offer their unique traits to their offspring. However, many, many, MANY of Gatsby’s foal owners acknowledge that their foals have inherited Gatsby’s mind and temperament, even when these qualities were lacking in their mares. These traits that Gatsby so readily passes on are important for all the Sporthorse disciplines. They are equally important for the Warmblood mare as they are for a Thoroughbred. A little bit about Gatsby’s Pedigree: Gatsby is by the legendary elite Hanoverian stallion, Gonzo I. Gonzo competed successfully as a Puissance horse in Europe under the Olympian Frank Sloothak, clearing the 7’2” wall on several occasions. Now THAT takes a lot of heart, as Puissance horses jump walls they cannot see over at all. In the realm of showjumping, Gonzo I’s pedigree is impeccable. His dam was a full sister to the legendary Deister, who in one decade with the Olympian Paul Schockemoehle amassed $1.5 million in earnings, wining an Olympic Silver medal, four German National Championships and three European Championships. Gonzo I’s sire, Gepard, produced Hunter sire, All the Gold and 12 Grand Prix showjumpers. His grandsire, Gotthard, is the most famous jumping sire in the Hanoverian breed. Gonzo also competed successfully through 4th level dressage, which is a feat unto itself, considering that he accomplished this achievement After completing an illustrious Grand Prix showjumping career. His offspring are much sought after by both professionals and amateurs in all disciplines. Gonzo I has produced States Premium mares in Germany, and his German FN recorded Dressage Production Index (for offspring) has now equaled his Jumping Production Index. After Gonzo I was imported to the United States, he became the most requested Hanoverian stallion between 1995-1997. Gatsby’s dam line descends from the legendary Seattle Slew, who remains to this day the only undefeated Triple Crown winner in history. His Thoroughbred influence really lends itself to the lightness and athleticism characteristic in Gatsby’s foals. Seattle Slew earned Horse of the Year honors in 1977 and was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. In the Blood-Horse magazine’s ranking of the top 100 U.S. Thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, Seattle Slew was ranked number 9. Gatsby’s lineage is filled with royalty! His pedigree marks not only achievement and success, but also incredible heart and depth of character. Both his sire and dam lines represent horses that literally went “above and beyond” the normal call of duty and were achievers of extraordinary feats. Value of Donated Fee: $1250 3 Year Contract w LFG Collection Fee: $300 CAN, $250 US per collection includes box Semen Availability: Fresh Cooled & Frozen EVA and WFFS Negative The Westfalen Verband NA is auctioning a donated stallion service contract provided by the owner/stallion station shown. Note - The auction lots begin closing at 8 p.m. Eastern Sunday March 7th. Each lot closes 1 minute after the lot before. Each lot is set to finish with a Soft Close - which means that if a bid is placed on a stallion in the last 2 minutes of the auction, the time on that lot will extend by another 2 minutes. Remember you can place a Max Bid by highlighting over the next bid amount and entering the amount you are willing to pay for the stallion service. The program will bid only up as far as it has to to keep you the high bidder - just like in Ebay. Other bidders won't see your maximum bid. Winning bidders will be notified by e-mail at the close of the auction. Please check your e-mail for notification of a win or loss. You must then make payment via paypal, credit card, check or money order to Westfalen NA within seven days from the end of the auction.
