Born September 12, 1945, Manara is known professionally as an artist and an Italian comic book writer. He built a reputation for creating art and comics centralized around elegant, beautiful women trapped in highly unlikely and fantastical erotic scenarios. He solidified himself as such, with work such as Il Gioco (1983, also known as, Le Déclic), which revolved around a device which rendered women helplessly aroused.
