Lead Original Strathfield Railway Indicator Board 1940s
Description
Original railway destination/indicator board from Strathfield railway station from the 1940's. This board sat in the entrance tunnel below the platforms in one of Sydneys main railway stations. Rare to see such an orignal item with enamel clock faces and rare brass clock hands. Locking release mechanisms all work. Measures approx 2.3m high by 1.8m wide and is extremely heavy. Located in inner city Sydney will require specialist removalists to handle correctly. Could possibly be seperated into 3 individual boards by new owner. Board had been displayed and used in former transport minister Paul Whelans Strathfield Pub "Whelans Hotel" for 20 years - thus the references to beers on some of the station name boards. A rare piece of Australian transport history and a great manshed item.
